Gawd. I thought "Let's Play Crosswords" was a dumb title. This is worse.

I think it's more effective when it's up.

Aaaaaanyway, despite all the flak this show is getting, I'm not going to rule out a Merv Griffin game show until it airs.
This signature is currently under construction.

I haven't seen anyone give the show itself flak. The show actually looks like it has potential. I just think the name sucks so much that the show may never get the chance to reach that potential.

It seems that there may already be a title change . . .

I'm not convinced that page is for real, actually. Anyone know what LDC Productions, L.L.C. is?

That page also states that the show is going to be on the NBC network, which it is not.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

FWIW, a quick WHOIS of the domain turns up "The Griffin Group" of Beverly Hills, CA as the owner of the domain.

For the record, when Merv was on Craig Ferguson's show a few weeks back, he had said they were talking about changing the title to "Let's Do...".

Well, there's still time to change it to something else again. "R U Down with That" or "Ups and Downs" or "In Case of a Ty."

I'm actually amazed how many times I've seen industry professionals say "network" when they really mean "owned stations," so that part isn't necessarily odd.  What strikes me as odd is the limited amount of information they're asking for on their application form.  Didn't stop me from entering, though.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.

And Robert Feder reports in today's Chicago Sun-Times that "Crosswords" will be done in LA, not Chicago.  Although Feder says something about deciding to not have a studio audience as the main reason, the primary culprit is that NBCU's sucktastic "iVillage Live" is moving production from Universal Studios in Orlando to WMAQ in Chicago.  With a dedicated big set for a show that's fed live at 11 a.m. CT every weekday and "Judge Mathis" already using part-time Studio A at the NBC Tower where "iVillage" is going in (Springer's in Studio B and the Steve-the-Bodyguard show will probably also use Studio B--those are the only studios at 'MAQ that can accommodate audience seating), "Crosswords" got crowded out.

Feder also mentioned that "iVillage" is having problems with the theme park in Orlando, and that's why they're moving--I guess they know that they're moving from a non-union shop in a right-to-work state to a solidly unionized shop, but I guess they'll accept it.

And now "iVillage" can continue its race with Mike and Juliet for the daytime live feed talk show that'll get cancelled first.

Dammit...so much for my plan to fly into Chicago this summer and audition (LA's just not within my budget or time frame, given my work sched).
