I got an email on Tuesday making sure that I was coming to the taping as well as letting me know that I could bring more people. "We should be able to seat as many people as you bring," something like that. I'm glad I didn't make the trip - that schedule sounds excruciating!

They also didn't finish the first round shows until sometime around midnight.  Quarters, semis and finals will be taped tonight starting at 3 (as I've been told, this may not be accurate, don't hold me to it, offer void in TN, etc.).

Part of the show will be on location shoots of each of the contestants that were already in the can.  Why they didn't show them to the in-studio audiences is a little odd.

Clarification on Dennis Miller's radio show today.  The 10am hour was a repeat, but it seemed as though it was live from 11 on.  He mentioned Grand Slam (which he called "the game show") briefly and mentioned in jest that the Hager Twins would be appearing.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

And I *knew* who he meant by the Hager Twins.

Perhaps I should make another Denny quote from an HBO special of his to give us an idea of what to expect:

"Of all the people in the world, I don't want to be lectured about animal rights from Bob F--kin' Barker!

"And while I'm at it, hey Bob, how 'bout some crop rotation on those 'Price is Right' models, huh?  Especially that blonde chick with the teeth who's been on the show since the Late Mezazoic Era.  Huh, cha-cha?"

Don't remember if he actually said "cha-cha," but he probably did.

Friday night's taping lasted until midnight.  I imagine the finished product will be a lot better than the two minute rounds we saw.  But if game shows in general are headed in this direction, I will not be happy.

Also, if anyone was wondering, Pat Kiernan is the unseen quesiton reader.  While Dennis and Amanda were doing their commentary before and after each round (unheard to the studio audience), I noticed watching a monitor that they had two shots, a wide shot of Dennis and Amanda, and a tight shot of just Amanda talking, but no tight shot of just Deniis talking.

Not me.  Speaking completely personally, part of the appeal of watching a quiz show and listening to Dennis Miller is feeling smart when I "get" something that most people wouldn't.  Since I didn't need to look up the Hager Twins (being southern and middle-aged didn't hurt), it's all good to me.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.

I would vote for Pat Kiernan for top question-reader of this era, hands down. (If there is such a thing.) His delivery makes World Series of Pop Culture that much more interesting for me.

I like it too, when it's clever and fits in. My knock is that Dennis sometimes makes an active effort to go too far to be obscure, and often it diminishes the joke when he does.

As the proud owner of....four? of the Rant books, I'm hoping he works out.

How have they worked the format, just out of interest?

Our original UK show was 5 or later 6 rounds, with the time saved up from the first five rounds added to the standard clocks in the final general round.

Also, in our version the contestants had to stake £1,000 of their own money. Is it safe to assume that's been dropped for this one?
