"Crosswords" name change confirmed
« on: June 05, 2007, 03:25:05 PM »
Television Week confirms.

From the article:
Quote
The name change was no surprise to Blink. After all, Mr. Griffin said earlier in the year that the title "Let's Play Crosswords" didn't seem right and speculated about changing it.

Alex, I tried to submit the article, but didn't see any contact info on BuzzerBlog, and the "Contact Us" button leads to the mainpage. Then again, I'm doing this from work, so I didn't get a chance to look throughout the page like I could from home.

I think the name change is a good idea (it's better than "Let's Do Crosswords", that's for damn sure), but I don't understand why they just can't call it "Crosswords."

I suppose you can still learn stuff on TLC, though it would be more in the Goofus & Gallant sense, that is (don't do what these parents did)"- Travis Eberle, 2012

FYI, Contact is on the top right bar.  We're trying to redo the site so it's not so, uh, horribly put together.

Yeah, it is confirmed to be Merv Griffin's Crosswords.  Also, there are rather major format changes.  This is what I was given:

“The current plan is to have five contestants per show. Two contestants start the show, and three more contestants, initially termed “spoilers” join in later. There is a “Russian Roulette” / King of the Mountain aspect to the show. A podium or podiums are assigned the money and prizes, and the spoilers vie to displace those at the podiums. Those who are at the podium or podiums at the end of the show win what has been accumulated at the podium.”

Be on the lookout for more major casting information soon.

That's essentually what they are doing. Rest assured the "Merv Griffin' stuff will not be a prominent part of the name, just like "Bruce Forsyth's Hot Streak" was usually referred to as "Hot Streak".

This is an unknown quantity for most people, having Merv heartily endorse this product and/or service will probably give it some free cred.

No, I believe this is the third name for the show. Let's Play CW, and MG's CW.... I can't for the life of me remember the third, but it too was bad.

Denny Terrio's Crosswords?  No, that wasn't it. But let the jokes commence regardless!

If Merv gets rid of Ty Treadway and brings in Bruce Forsyth as the host, will it become "Bruce('s) Forsyth's/Merv Griffin's Crosswords", or "Merv Griffin's/Bruce('s) Forsyth's Crosswords"??? :-P

Deney T's show was called "Let's Do Merv."
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.
