And one I don't know the answer to, but my gut feeling (which seems to be working well so far in this thread) tells me that the problem is PRECISELY that million dollars, which is what is driving the rest of the bank offers up so high. I don't think scaling down the rest of the topheavy end of the tree is gonna do it.
I think you need to do two things. One, leave it at a million, and lower the rest of the payouts...dangle that carrot with the risk of walking with a lot less.
Drop it to $500K, scaling the rest down appropriately (drop the other five of the top six by half, perhaps, leaving you with a top six of $50K-$250K, and then the $500K as the Big Fella) and maybe you have something. Maybe. Even then I'm still not sold.
2, you need a banker to be tougher with the offers.
