Freakin' Studs.

I won't 100% believe it until tvtix.com or CBS has tickets available to seat an audience.

EDIT: Damnit...fat fingered the title. Add "job" to the end and it makes it a little more correct. Merci.

Okay, let me get this straight: They've auditioned a no-talent weatherman whose only qualification is that his last name is in the show's title (and that one of his coworkers performs fellatio on Les Moonves on at least an irregular basis), an orange sexagenarian (giggity!) and Slater. And now you're saying that you don't buy that they're auditioning someone who has actually hosted more than one game show, even if one of them IS Freakin' Studs?

What does everyone make of Mr. DeCarlo? I didn't watch Studs, but he seemed all right on Big Deal, even if the show blew. And he was an $oTC contestant, so he can't be all bad.

Do I buy the fact that CBS/Fremantle would do this? Yup.

I'm not going to take it as gospel until there's some sort of contestant/audience call.

And I never want to see fellatio and Les Moonves in the same sentence ever again.

My take on Mark DeCarlo is that he seems to run along the same personality and talent line as George Gray.

Both George and Mark had started on over the top game shows and were obnoxious. But seeing Mark's work in other shows (I saw him on a cable show recently -- one of the food or travel channels???), he has the ability to do as good a job on TPIR as George did on TWL as long as he can balance the smarminess with the professionalism.

I never saw the smarm in DeCarlo, but I think I saw three episodes combined of Big Deal! and Studs, but what I have seen of him on Taste of America shows that he's at the very least competent. I don't think that there can be a "perfect fit" after Bob leaves, but of the names that have been swatted around, (Hamilton, Steines, Lopez, oh my!) I would most want to see Mark DeCarlo as host, and that's by a wide margin.

I absoultely think he's the best candidate yet. Good personality, funny without being a 'please love me!' sort of comic.

Watch "Taste of America" tonight to see what he's like these days. It's a far cry from Studs.

And honestly, let's keep in mind the demo that Freakin' Studs went for...I don't even think any of the contestants were over-30 (on average). Could be wrong, but I remember a lot of early-20s folks...not that I was supposed to watch the show. ;-)

Studs is an apple to Price's orange.

Mr. DeCarlo was trying out as the host of 1 vs. 100 when I tried out as a contestant. He was OK but very mechanical. I don't think he would project any warmth.

They've also had the chance to see many of the TPIR Live emcees in action. It seems to me Las Vegas is the better test bed for emcee aspirants than studio 33.

QFT. DeCarlo on Taste of America is a complete 180 from the DeCarlo on (Freakin') Studs and Big Deal! 10 to 15 years ago. He comes across as very personable with people of all ages and injects humor at appropriate times.

(Oooh, can't watch Taste of America tonight. There's that little basketball game about 12 miles from here which ABC is covering in glorious HD. And before anybody says Taste of America is on at 8 while the game starts at 9, pre-game show. :-P)
