My favorite line:

Dorothy Jo Barker not only guided her husband's career, she anchored his ego. After more than 30 years of marriage, she had a keen insight into the man, once saying, "I love Bob Barker, and Bob Barker loves Bob Barker."

Nikki Ziering's quote about "Bob not liking the attention I was getting" raises an interesting point; Have anyone else noticed that any of the rotating models who seem to get abnormal attention don't return? Such as the Zubedayah (SP?) "rap" on one of the showcases..... never appeared since. Rebecca getting proposed to on the show? Gone.

A negative article makes perfect timing. Sad.

No, the modeling position on the show is simply no longer a permanent job due to the negative things mentioned in the article.

  • Barker is "retired"*, not dead, and
  • This is stuff that should have come out into the public eye LONG ago, and I for one welcome our Barker-exposing overlords applaud Chris Mann for doing it.
* it gets quotes because he wouldn't have done it if the other option wasn't "shiatcanned"

I would agree with your larger point, but not because of the two obscure examples you used that would only matter to people who watched the show regularly.  Bob controlled what was on the show.  It was when the models started getting too much attention outside the show (with Playboy pictorials and the like) that there would be a problem.

Besides, I would think Rebecca not returning has more to do with the fact that she and Jeff Thisted broke up than anything else.  That probably would have been a very awkward work environment.

I refuse to believe accusations that stem from a relationship that deteriorated into mistrust and the elimination of the permanent status a well-known job position once had. Accusations such as these should have ended one fellow’s career years ago (executive producer or not), but now that he is retired they are all coming back too late. Apologize for the past and leave it alone.

I was under the impression that the reason they were hired in the first place was because they were, in fact, Playboy bunnies. I believe many of them posed before getting hired (Heather Kozar comes to mind).

Even though more than one person has spoken up, and Barker had a s**t list long before he announced his retirement?

You're not Waiter_On_The_Run, by any chance, are you? Okay, that's an unfair assessment, but it's crazy how the fanb0is still refuse to believe that this man they've worshipped for so long (and yes, I said worship, he's like a cult god to some of you) actually has an evil streak. And that's from producers who've worked with him for decades.

BTW, don't drink the red Kool-Aid and I like your Nike sneakers.

Dian was Miss D.C. in '65, and was Miss World Runner Up in the same year.

I know it's not Playboy, but still picked for name recognition.

I'm well aware more people have spoken, meaning they all have the same intentions. I don't worship any other human being, including one whose innocence seems to outweigh the negative over a long period of time.
