GSN's daytime audience is surprisingly big compared to its prime time audience, according to the B&C story, although both have declined significantly. Total day (which includes everything) is almost always much lower than prime time, of course, for any cable or broadcast network. MediaLifeMagazine runs weekly total day and prime time numbers for the top 25 cable networks. The latest chart shows the usual big difference for most of the cable outlets. So it's not surprising that most original stuff goes where most viewers are.

CBS apparently is keeping a death grip on TPiR, though it would still be the best thing that could happen to GSN's daytime schedule. Maybe the Millionaire syndicators are just as wary, though prime time exposure on GSN probably wouldn't hurt them and might even help a little. At any rate, Millionaire has proven to be the network's strongest and most consistent ratings-getter ever. It seems GSN would be willing to pay almost anything within reason to get the Meredith eps.

The way they take ratings is very strange. In one of the weeks Adult Swim is the number one network in all of cable-all on the strength of one program,"Family Guy." Maybe we shouldn't pay attention to the ups and downs so much.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

Daytime is down, too, as the B&C story points out. I think the quickest fix is Meredith Millionaire in prime time and TPiR in daytime, if GSN could pry the rights loose. Of course, they could always try a complete Spike-ish rebranding of the network away from game shows entirely.

Bite your keyboard!  Actually, I'm in agreement with a few of the other posts - if they wanted to rebrand at night and try more of these casino-type shows, fine; as long as they leave the game shows on in the daytime.  It doesn't seem likely anything else they'd try would work better, ratings-wise.

I also like to see them "freshen up" the schedule from time to time.  If they don't feel anything they've got in the "vault" would do any better for them, what else is left out there besides Merideth's Millionaire?  It seems they're running out of options as far as well-known hit material that they could strip.

Hell, even Lifetime, which was formed out of the merger of two channels, one of them called "Daytime," doesn't do original daytime anymore--and "Attitudes" was its flagship when it first became a women's channel.

Wasn't it Lifetime that did that show about wives of famous people called "Are You Anybody?" Or am I thinking of some project from one of its forebears.

Lifetime was the result of the merger between Cable Health Network (where "Life" came from), and ABC Daytime.  "Attitudes" was originally hosted by Linda Dano, soap actress, and Nancy Glass.  After they left, the show was hosted by Rolonda Watts, and another blonde whose name escaped me at the moment.

Linda had two other co-hosts after Nancy left -- first Dee Kelly, and then Jerry Penacoli.  IIRC, there were stories at the time that the Dano/Penacoli team ultimately was replaced because of fear that viewers weren't accepting a male co-host.

Dorothy Lucey.  One of my co-moderators knows a thing or two about her. :-)

"Are You Anybody" was on USA in the first half of the '80's.  IIRC, it was hosted by Mrs. Allen Funt.

Which is what happens when you post late at night.  Of course, I was a fan of Dorothy's from her time on "Good Day Live".
