When some of us forum members were that age (including myself), we were all mesmerized by a giant pinball machine, the gameplay (although much better than NBN) took a back seat -- hell, I couldn't even have told you how the main game was played until I saw the show years later.

What I'm saying is as far as mind-challenging play-along games, decent contestants and a mature, entertaining host go, Bingo aint got it.  But one thing that the show has going for it is that it is keeping the spirit of game shows alive for the future generations -- who hopefully some will grow up to create and produce better shows, and sometimes it's the flashy-but-dumb shows that get the kids hooked on the genre...It did for me!!
[/quote]

Now THAT'S the idea! Drop bingo like a hot skillet and figure out an online component for Magnificent Marble Machine! Joan Rivers is still around to work a flipper! Hell, the commissioner of bingo looks similar in stature to Art James, let him host! It'll be great!

Midnight-3 a.m. ET/PT, Showtime Too.  If I could only stay awake.  :)

Huh. . . I was thinking of having Showtime reinstalled for when "Weeds" fires up again anyway. . .

Here is irony for you: We've had hundreds of posts saying (INSERT NAME HERE) is all wrong to replace Barker on TPIR, yet people tolerate the maroon who is emceeing NBN.

There ya go, Mark! Diz/ABC has the parks, the cruises (unless it'll get Royal Caribbean all po'd)....I remember those other event trips, but as you said, if you're not into either the music or sports... How about some choices? See the Kentucky Derby or a weekend at the Diz park of your choice?

<Bad Joke Time>

Didn't you hear, to compete with Universal Studios' announcement that they are building a Harry Potter themed section, Disney is going to gut the inside of the Epcot Center Sphere, replace the exterior with clear plexi glass, fill it with numbered beach balls, and hire a bunch of Commissoner Sunil look alikes for their National Bingo Night visitor experience.  It'll be great, they can play games pitting the young'uns against the local senior citizens home for a coupon good for a discounted roasted turkey leg, or a Mickey Mouse shaped ice cream bar.

Here's the thing about NBN from my viewpoint...The show is super cheap to produce, at max they'll give away just over $150,000 to in-studio contestants, and another $100,000 in cash and prizes to home players (Maybe less than that if some of the at home prizes are provided in exchange for promotional consideration) per show.  You figure ABC isn't paying Ed Sanders much more money if any additional at all to do this show in addition to his appearances on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. As for Commissoner Sunil, I'd be super surprised if he's getting paid more than scale for his screen time.  Figure that in plus the other overhead costs for producing this show, I'd be shocked if the production budget is anywhere near $500,000 per episode.

I suppose, ABC isn't getting Desperate Housewives type ad revenue on NBN, but they have to be making money hand over fist on this show.  As long as the show is making money for the network, they'll keep using it despite the ratings...The moment the ratings drop so low that it's not making any money and forcing ABC to give make-goods to the advertisers, they'll can the show and start showing reruns of According to Jim in it's place.

Ed Sanders doesn't offend me either. The show is nothing fluff, therefore, a host that is also nothing fluff is wholly appropriate.

Or, as it turns out, more first-run episodes.

What does he do on Extreme Makeover? Is his training as a guy who puts up sheetrock?

We, the viewers, can hardly lose either way.

I think it's finally time to sell that Walt Disney stock.

He's one of the many designers who designs a room for each of his shows.

Did they REALLY have to renew this show? I believe they should have just made a new season of "The Mole" or actually made another season of "You Don't Know Jack" (i don't care what you say about this show, Paul Reubens was a great host, and it stayed true to YDKJ)

But ABC so far got meh hits.

"My Kind of Town"? You just made Don't Forget Your Toothbrush on a HIGHER SCALE

"Show Me the Money"? Shatner is a total jinx. "You're Wrong, DON'T GET THE KILLER CARD!!!" *hits killer card*

as for "National Bingo Night" - i believe they should give the contestant their own bingo board, and play for $100,000 instead, but 50/50 chance games I guess are "in" now.

as for "You Bet" its for charity, i am sure it will be a great variety show compared to "That's Incredible" back in the late 70s.

and "Set for Life" is just like any other lottery pay-off show, its just depending on how long the check is for, and how much. (remember when $1,000,000 was paid off in small checks for the next 20 years?)

But it did make alot of people scream "Noooooooooooooooooooo Bingo" so it must be good.

You seem to forget that little show called "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" that started this whole prime time game show revival.

And "Set for Life" is just burning off.  Barring a ratings miracle, if ABC didn't want to run it during November sweeps, they're not going to want to run it in the next mid-season.  (Note that at least "NBN" premiered with May sweeps still in progress.)

No, but clearly they have ascertained that they are going to turn a profit from it, or else they would not have.

"Jinx?" You gotta be friggin' kidding me. All of the perfectly valid complaints to be levied against this pile of crap, and you go for "Jinx?"

Very, Very True, $50,000 is Fear Factor Money but twards bingo COME ON! The Ratings were Abysmal at the very most.

The Question Format was Great!, The "Dancer For Your Answer" was not-so-great, His Promotions for "Boston Legal Tuesday Nights at 10 on ABC" were not so great, and to top it off, he was a jinx, there was never a time on that show, where a person picked the Killer Card on a Correct Answer

If I did not last long, its because my opinions represent the fine folks of "Jordan Hass", and not of its sponsors or parent companies.
