Celine Dion to host French-Canadian "Deal"

Julie Snyder is a fixture on big-budget French-Canadian TV. She owns a production company and has hosted tons of high-profile shows, including Le Banquier, the French version of Deal or No Deal. She is also a close friend of Céline Dion, who seems to appear on Julie's shows every time Céline's career marks a milestone.

This fall, Céline will take over Julie's reins at the helm of Le Banquier. (Holy mixed metaphors, Batman!) As part of a celebrity birthday series titled Surprise Party:
  • Céline will host,
  • Julie will play, and receive offers from...
  • ...the banquer -- Céline's husband and manager, René Angelil!
We already know Céline's passion for game shows -- she watches The Price is Right and appeared on Deal's video screen to sing and cheer a contestant along. This show should be a hoot! I'll try to put it up on Bittorrent, but no promises.

Does your banquer actually do anything, or does he just sit there while the producers do the heavy lifting, like they do over here?

Ah yes. Celine Headroom. Possibly THE most painful moment in the short history of the program.

The only difference will be that when a contestant says "no deal," Celine will sing "My Game Will Go On."

This would be so much better if it were the Celine Dion from the South Park episode Not Without My Anus.

Unfortunately the only clip I could find was in Spanish.

Of course, after (or maybe even *during*) the one-time special, to paraphrase SNL, whe will proclaim herself as.

The Greatest Game Show Host in the Whole World!!!  :-)
