One other thing: Always root for the contestant to win, no matter how much you like or dislike the contestant.

And the fact that this even has to be said is sort of a disgrace to the game show host occupation. And yet, with Barker the past few years, it has to be said.

Are you saying Barker has been rooting for contestants he doesn't like to lose?

At any rate, TPIR is different from other game shows in that every stage game is played against the house. Alex Trebek's job is not to show any favoritism among the three contestants.

I guess not necessarily, but I recall at least twice where he has seemed displeased that a contestant won.

We have certainly seen that he isn't as forgiving or willing to let contestants change their mind or whatever if they're obnoxious. He absolutely treated contestants differently from one to the next.

I can see Barker being unforgiving of smart-ass frat bo1z. Am I correct in my perception?

Actually, he's been somewhat taken with the schtick of some of them, and let them go on with it, while being REAL annoyed with some ladies who stare out into the crowd and don't understand what game they're playing.

Not that I doubt for a moment that it was largely ego-fueled, but Barker cutting an annoying contestant short was actually a plus in my eyes.
