From Variety:

http://www.variety.com/article/VR111797009...yid=14&cs=1

" "Deal or No Deal" will differ from its NBC primetime parent in two big ways: It's a half-hour, not an hour, and it'll give away a top prize of $250,000, not $1 million.

Howie Mandel will reprise his host chores on the syndie edition, but NBC U will cut back on the number of sexy suitcase models from 26 to a figure still to be determined. A spokesman for NBC U declined to comment on the syndicated version of "Deal." "

So they'll fill out the group with worn-looking plain-Jane suitcase models?

I would assume the producers are already figuring out ways to give away Hawaiian trips and hot tubs, just to get you into the Speedos like on "$ale of the Century!"

So close, producers! You were right to cut the prize by a factor of four, but the number of cases was fine as is. A half hour is plenty of time to finish a game if you leave the capering on the cutting room floor.

I had a feeling the syndie show would offer a smaller cash prize and (with fewer cases) move at a more brisk pace.

I think the case structure will range from 16-20 cases...I will have to work on how the prize ladder works.

Travis, don't forget that the syndie version probably has a smaller budget for the talent as well.

Having one Vanna White-style model bring each of the 26 cases down as they're selected would look tacky in light of the prime time version having one model per case.  (Then again, some would say the whole show is tacky as is....)

My ideal ladder would have 12 cases:

10¢
25¢
$1
$5
$10
$25
$50
$75
$100
$250,000

How's this for a cure for Mo' Money Syndrome?

Tell me if this is too top heavy, it's with 18 cases:

First column:
-1
-5
-10
-25
-50
-100
-250
-500
-1000

Second column:
-2,500
-5,000
-10,000
-20,000
-30,000
-40,000
-50,000
-100,000
-250,000

Something seems off, but I can't pinpoint it. I feel as if there should be something between $1,000 and $5,000, and I'm not fond of putting the $5,000 in the higher column. Either that or the second column looks flawed.

Your matrix is even more pinching of pennies than the Australian version, which I like. Even the UK one would be fine. Maybe yours has a bit too many amounts between 10k to 50k, but overall, I like it.

Even so, it's all for nothing if they're just going to do what they did with an hour of time to fill, and instead do it with a half hour.

Thanks...I was trying to go for something that could make $10,000-20,000 look pretty good, and make focus groups piss themselves. :-)

How about this 18-case board?

1¢ $1,000
$1 $3,000
$10   $5,000
$25   $10,000
$50   $20,000
$100  $35,000
$250  $50,000
$500  $100,000
$750  $250,000
