On a related note, the UK primetime version. Hosted by Noel Edmonds with a £250K top prize will debut Sunday nights from 7th October.

PLEASE let this be the death knell for the show.

(I'll be watching for Miss America.  That ought to be good.)

Jeff: "1st grade geography...where is the United States located on this map?"

Miss America: "Well I think Americans today since this is America and with the Iraq and Canada and Americans should be smart and if the numbers are right..."

Jeff: "Wake me up when she answers."

/Yeah, I know that was Miss Teen USA.

At least most people know about that MTUSA contestant...no one probably knows who Miss America is, since that pagent has been circling the drain for years... (it's gone from NBC to ABC to CMT, and now to TLC...I fully expect it to be on Fox Reality soon)

And it aired on CBS throughout the 80s and 90s.

TLC, eh? It being the Learning Channel*, I guess it has to teach teenage girls how to be shallow and vapid.

You sure about that?  I'm almost positive Miss America was an NBC staple for years and years until the mid-1990s, then ABC picked up the mantle (then dropped it after ratings sunk).

CBS was more in the Miss USA/Universe fold prior to Trump's involvement (with some game show host doing a lot of the emceeing--can't recall his name offhand).

Boy was I surprised when I discovered that Elke Sommer had a career before co-hosting the Miss USA pageant....

Not to mention Helen O'Connell.

ObGS:  O'Connell did a week of GONG in January 1978.

That's the one I'm thinking of. You see one pointless pageant, you've seen them all. ;-)

We could play "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader", but with Kids! Gary Coleman could host!

Surely you can't be serious!

(And who knows how these shows will do...by that time, we'll know if there's going to be a writer's strike, so we might see a glut of shows like these...)
