I never realized it, but Wheel has turned into SportsCenter with all the gratuitous sponsorship. I know it's no different than the companies sponsoring 50s game shows, but that was one sponsor.
My first thought was the average televised baseball game of 2007, with its sponsored hits and catches and pitching changes and innings and half-innings and stretches and rain delays and dirt.

Now all we need is a 21st Century equivalent of Herb Stempel and some stooge on one of these shows emulating Charles Van Doren.

I saw Wheel's NY Friday taping.  The $2,500 double-width wedge is only in Round 1.  The wedge was sponsored by Febreze.  Also, the Big Money wedge is now much nicer.  From what I remember it's black with chase lights that change from red to blue.  Same screen in the middle of the wedge.
