This rather interesting clip from a 60s film titled "1999 A.D." shows how people predicted how life would have been like in 1999 at the time.  At around the minute mark, there is a father paying his bills. Could that possibly be a young Wink Martindale looking frustrated at what his wife just bought? It looks a lot like him.

What do you guys think?

WARNING: Although the video is completely clean, some of the ads and stuff may be NSFW. If you are at the office, please proceed with caution!

Shopping in 1999 A.D.

An interesting video nonetheless.

I also found another one where the man actually speaks... Maybe this will help you: here.

Wow...it did look a lot like him. I'd be interested to know if it was him myself...

From this source:

"Around 1969, Ford-Philco made a corporate film titled '1999 A.D.'  It
starred Wink Martindale, who played 'Michael Shore,' an astrophysicist
working on the 'Mars One Project.'  Marj Dusay played his wife
'Karen.'  Alexander Scourby narrated.  They lived in the House of the
Future somewhere in southern California with their 8-year-old son."

I guess this closes the case.

Well done.  Just for the record, where did that description come from?

I added the link to the source. I completely forgot to quote, sorry.

It seems like the person who wrote it on Yahoo Answers owned the video and knew about the cast, so i thought it was the least bit of credible...

I think that's more than credible, we're not editing a newspaper here.  Just wanted to know where you found it.

I went to the source. Wink says (excerpted):

Actually it was filmed in 1967.  I was a client at that time of Carey-Phelps-Colvin Agency. They booked me on it - and as I recall I did not have to audition for it.  Marj (wife) later went on to quite a bit of prominence as an actress in TV...and some movie parts as well.  Don't recall specifically where it was filmed but do know it was somewhere in West LA.  I remember being so thrilled with the part of the husband...'cause in my mind at the time, I thought, "Wow! I'm really acting"!!!  Fun time.  I wish I had the whole film but for some reason I never got a copy.

And Wink plugs a future appearance:

Just got home from taping a piece with Ross the intern on The Tonight Show.....with Eubanks.  The bit was Ross wants to be a game show host and we gave him some pointers.  Don't know when it'll air.  They want to get Drew Carey and Howie Mandell to complete the piece before airing.  Fun.

Emphasis added because, as a Yahoo! employee, it's nice to see the "Google-as-a-generic-term-for-web-search" phenomenon going in the other direction for once.

By the way, wasn't sure if this was a dig at my previous question or not.

Not in the slightest.  Just a (hopefully) comic follow-up.
