Link.

Is this the creation of Paul Bailey, or is this a separate entity?  The last I heard, Bailey's HoF/museum was to be in Truth or Consequences, NM.

It's definitely not Paul's, and therefore somewhat amazing that nobody here seemed to know anything about it until this press item a week and a half before the event.  Of course, the article is so limited it really doesn't tell us whether this is a physical structure, or even whether the four "inductees" will even be on hand.  Or for that matter, whether (and where) there's even an event.

"Game Show Hall of Fame" as a Google entry only turns up two items of potential relevance:  A 2005 article about Bob Eubanks, which sais he wanted to create an entertainment museum in Florida, and a page that says GSN has tried to trademark the phrase for its own purposes.

As a peripheral member of Paul's team, I'm not bothered by the competition, I'm just baffled that there would be an entity that would do this without either a web presence or the awareness of the internet-based fan community.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't even recall hearing Peter nor Stu mentioning it on Stu's Show a few weeks back, and something of that caliber shoulda woulda coulda been noted right then.

Kinda odd as well that 3 of the 4 inaugural 'inductees' had hosted a Game Show where at least one season was shot in Sin City!

Since the location of the place alleges to be Vegas, I'm thinking that is a little more than a coincidence.

So that means that the 2008 class should include Jack Clark and Ahmad Rashad!  :-P

/My vote goes for Jane Nelson.

I just heard about this, and it looks like Steve Beverly is looking into connections.  I will be checking with folks I know in Vegas as well (Hello, Randy???) but it sure is a terse announcement.

As far as the other facility is concerned, in various discussions it looks like T or C is not going to work, it just has not generated enough interest.  Having something in So Cal or Nevada would be great, and it would be silly to have more than one of these - so getting in touch with these organizers to combine resources may be a good idea, depending on who they are and what their agenda is.

My ears (and other body parts) are burning - too much salsa last night, perhaps.

Nobody I'm talking with knows more than what's in that press release. I've e-mailed Paul with an educated guess as to who and what it's all about; I'm sure he'll report back to us all. Without hard facts I don't think it responsible for me to print any conjecture. But if it is as I suspect, I have questions about it having any "legs" as a long-term, serious undertaking.

The HOF may be somehow PR connected to this gig listed at http://www.lvhilton.com/entertainment/ugs.shtml - they may be using the other guys coming in to introduce games that they will be running at this.  My gut feeling is that people who come to town to attend this would likely be interested in TPIR Live as well, and vice versa - although as previously noted this could be flash in the pan.

The Hall of Fame is in fact tied to this event.  I was contacted by someone connected to Monty Hall's people, and here is an edited version of what he had to say:

Quote
I called her about this since Monty Hall was mentioned as being inducted and it is real and is being done at The Las Vegas Hilton.  When Monty was contacted, the other inductees were not mentioned.  But Monty's bio and clips that had been put together for the ceremony were picked up last Thursday or Friday for the ceremony.  Monty had planned to attend, but due to circumstances beyond his control he may have to cancel his appearance.  They plan to do and continue with this with other game show icons, in honor of "The $250,000 Game Show" hosted by Woolery, Eubanks, & Jamie Farr coming to the LV Hilton.

Still no specific information about what the "ceremony" consists of, but it now seems to make sense that the ceremony would be part of the one-time-only gathering of all three of their show hosts on Saturday.

Oh, this is Eubanks' travelling stage-show thing. He did that up here at the Tulalip Casino a little while ago. THE most cheesy canned TV ad EVAR. (And it featured the classic Eubanks soundbite shot of stand-at-a-slight-angle-and-puke.)

Nice to see that their publicity people do their homework. One pilot does not a game show host make.

And M*A*S*H isn't even a game show. Why mention it with the rest of the bunch? :P

Maybe they're referring to the glorious week Farr guest-hosted Wordplay...

i was in vegas over the weekend and actually attended the sat oct 13 game show and hall of fame induction.
the show was 2 parts. the first part was the start of the game show host hall of fame. richard fields ,the announcer for the price is right was the mc. peter marshall, hugh downs and wink martindale were there to accept their induction into the gameshow hall of fame. they all gave short speeches. monty hall and merv griffin were also inducted. monty hall coundnt make it due to falling and breaking some ribs. a short video was shown of all showing their contributions to game shows thru the years.
after that the gameshow started with chuck woolery, bob eubanks and jamie farr all doing part of the show. my wife and i were lucky enough to get on stage and win an event.

From what I have been able to determine from various sources, this was a one-off gig as a promo for the $250k Game Show Spectacular.  To my knowledge at this time there will be no floor or wall space at the Hilton dedicated to any kind of Game Show HOF.  As it turned out, Monty Hall could not be there as he had a recent fall and broke a couple of ribs, so Rich Fields accepted the award on his behalf, as well as the award for Merv.
