Certainly a less biased, proselytizing one.
A fine clue, except for the number change. (You went from singular in the clue to plural in the answer.)

I'm not sure if this is still a thread of Scrabble clues, or if people are trying to get a writing gig for the new version of Dirty Minds. I'm seeing a lot of tradeoff of "clever" for "risque".

/did love the Hammond organ one, tho

Okay. There was no bias intended in my post, and I don't appreciate being slammed for it.

Truth is, both do apply. However, I made my choice in words, and I don't appreciate being lumped into the Shuffield mold when that's about as far from the truth in my case.

If you're not shifting these, it should be automatic: GEARS

"Heathen" carries a negative connotation; "atheist" does not.  This, not unlike the basic principle of economics you attacked in an earlier thread, is so obvious that I can't believe I have to mention it.  And bringing in Steve's name to try to divert attention from your own mistake doesn't help your case.

Based on your posting pattern of late, I'm going to tell you the same thing I've told others, including another guy you love to slam: calm down.

Then point it out to me, because I don't see it. I really honestly don't.

I don't see WHY this is being made into a federal case. I made a legitimate clue...I didn't think that it was going to be any sort of a problem, because I thought people had more open minds.

I'm not bringing his name into it because I'm diverting attention away from what I said. I'm bringing his name into it because you treated an innocent Scrabble clue like one of his pro-Christian rants, and that's about as far from my post as it was.

After this, I will. I've actually been better as of late (maybe not necessarily here, but outside the Internet), believe it or not.

I'm dropping this now, and I would appreciate it if the same was done on your end.

Definition of heathen from m-w.com (emphasis mine):

Quote
1 : an unconverted member of a people or nation that does not acknowledge the God of the Bible
2 : an uncivilized or irreligious person
Definition of atheist from m-w.com:

Quote
one who believes that there is no deity
Again, one has a negative connotation and one does not.

You are the one who made it a federal case, because neither I nor Chris said that your post was on the same level as "gay sex causes AIDS."  Were you expressing hate or using a severely misguided application of religious beliefs?  No.  Does that make the term "heathen" completely neutral?  No.  And telling you that there is a better, more neutral alternative is not "making a federal case."

I would be remiss if I didn't point out that you're doing almost exactly what you criticized someone else for doing here.  As with the word choice, I'm sure that wasn't the intent, but it certainly looks like much the same thing.

That said, yeah, I'm happy to let this go too.  Done.
