GSN vs. Late-Nights

GSN is seeing an opening, as the WGA strike sends Dave/Jay/Conan/Craig/Jimmy/Carson/Jon/Colbert into reruns, so they're starting a new ad campaign with the slogan "You Can't Write This Stuff"--one of the spots, featuring someone we know and love, is embedded with the blog post:

http://www.tvweek.com/blogs/james-hibberd/2007/11/gsn.php

In the post, James Hibberd quotes Ryan Seacrest as saying that the non-WGA "Chelsea Lately" on E! is late-night television that's "strike-proof."  Of course, considering that there seems to be at least one repeat a week of the program in the 11:30 p.m. ET first-run slot, which Seacrest intros in wrapping up "E! News" as "all-new" whether it is or not, that's not too much of a comfort.

ObGameShow:  One of Chelsea Handler's panelists in the A block of her show recently was our good friend Rossi Morreale.

/Hope he got paid lots of love for doing the gig

I have to admit...GSN's promotion department capitalized perfectly on this ad campaign.  I wonder what the other commercials are.
When you're at the grocery game and you hear the beep, think of all the fun you could have at "Crazy Rachel's Checkout Counter!"

Is anybody else having problems viewing the video?  It's not loading on Firefox or IE7.

That's very odd...I used Firefox and it fired right up.

But for a quick summary...it's John Carpenter's famous Phone-A-Friend call, followed by a still of the words "You can't write this stuff" or something to that extent.

Plays fine for me, too. Mike, maybe you need a Flash upgrade?

Didn't work for me.  And I have the latest Flash.  They're checking for something weird.

Nope.  Everything on my home PC is current.

The page worked without a hitch on IE7 here at work.  I've seen a similar ad with Joe Trela's Millionaire moment during the end credits of some GSN shows.  Indeed it is good stuff.

It could be a Javascript check.  Other than that, I have no idea.

/Speaking of which, I disabled the stupid Javascript check on my site today.
