The full story from Mediacaster is here, but here's the key excerpt:

Among the variety of programs that are set to air on GameTV include Last Comic Standing; America’s Next Producer; Dog Eat Dog; The Rebel Billionaire: Branson’s Quest For The Best; Treasure Hunters; Beg, Borrow & Deal; Acting Crazy; Game On; Joke’s On Us; The Last Word; Love Handle; Love Me, Love Me Not; Mad Dash; The Mole; Supermarket Sweep; Test Pattern; and TimeChase.
Where GSN started with classic traditional game shows and added casino games, this channel is going in the opposite direction.  Any thoughts as to whether it will be any more successful?

I went into a Mad Dash to rush to my ExpressVu guide - and although they list a channel, I can't find it in a package...

Still though, I'm up for Test Pattern any day of the week.  And I find that you can't go wrong with mole (ok, maybe the celeb eps...)

Ryan.

What--no reruns of Super Pay Cards or Pitfall?

They seem to have a lot of recent "reality" type programs which weren't very good in first-run.  The studio-bound game shows would be nice to see.  I'm going to predict success for this new channel, as I don't think the pressure of ratings or advertiser demands is as great as it is at GSN.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

I get no channel 274 on my ExpressVu at the moment, either.  For a "themed" channel, that seems like a really strange place for it on the lineup, too, as opposed to down in the 600s where one would think it should be.  The 200s are generally the mainstream broadcasters and local stations.

Perhaps it will get added overnight -- and I sure hope this doesn't mean they'll file a claim to have GSN taken off Canadian TV as "competition"!

(Yes, I get ExpressVu down here, and I pay an ever-increasing sum for it every month, thanks to our collapsing US$.)

Add on edit:  I see a website for the current channel, http://www.cgtv.com -- but it looks like it hasn't even been touched since 2005.  Certainly no mention of any upcoming change.

And on 2nd edit: I found a second website -- http://www.cgtvcanada.com -- that actually appears to be more current, and which has a current "weekly schedule," but which ended on Thursday.  Still no mention of the change, though.  And it looks like the channel is being sent on ExpressVu's Nimiq2 satellite, which means you need a dual-LNB setup to get it ... and you need to be in Nimiq2's footprint, which sadly, I am not.

Screw that!  I'm wondering why the hell they aren't doing a double-run of Blake Emmons' Chain Reaction???

Looks worth checking out...wonder if they'll also have other long-running Canuck quizzers, like Definition or Reach For the Top.

Catalena Productions was a Canadian company, no? If so, what became of them when they went belly up c. 1982? I ask being they syndicated LMAD80 and Pitfall, and wonder if the two shows could end up on the channel, as neither reran nationally in the US. (Pitfall, IIRC, aired in repeats for a couple of years in NYC, but not nationally).

I'm way out of ExpressVu's range, let alone Nimiq2's footprint to see any of that stuff.  Sure wish I could see The Mad Dash again.  I still can't get over that BIG HONKIN' BOARD of theirs.  It certainly puts MMM to shame in terms of size.  Now if only they acqire Headline Hunters, It's Your Move & Beyond Reason, I'd be all set.  Oh well.  Guess I'l have to settle with GSN for now.

They were indeed Canadian...I think the company folded after going bankrupt, so no clue who holds the rights, although Hatos-Hall co-produced LMaD, if that helps.

Rhodes Productions syndicated Pitfall in the US and it aired on KHJ in LA as late as 1986.  Global in Canada showed it long after production ended as well.  It sure would be nice to see an arrangment whereby Alex gets paid for all that work he did.

Rhodes also distributed the 1980 LMAD as well -- maybe that company had some kind of connection with Catalena for distribution.

Will Alex want to see "Pitfall" back on the air, considering that it was one of his worst times of his life (per Wikipedia)?

As much as I loved the show, that was my 1st thought, too...LOL...LMaD would be less of a prob, considering Monty didn't get stiffed.

Will anyone here be getting the channel? If so, let me know about a trade...could easily work something out for an off-air assortment. :-)
