Found this little announcement/advertisement on the Broadcasting & Cable website.

Looks like the end is near for the long-running California Lottery's "Big Spin"

There's an interesting passage in the 95 pages (!!) of the RFP for the show (boldface added):

Contestants cannot be pre-screened by the producers. They gain entry through random luck by either purchasing a Scratchers® ticket that is a designated winner instantly or by being selected in a second-chance drawing. While these contestants are entitled to come to the show to determine their winning prize amount, the Lottery is not obligated to showcase every contestant on the show in the same manner.

This sounds rather like DOND's "we won't air your game if you're too boring" or Millionaire's "we won't air your second chance."

A new trend ... and one that's about to expand into lottery shows, where "anyone" can win?  (You can win, but you can't be on teevee if you're not in the demographic?)

No, the contract to produce the show is open for bids, as is periodically required.
Expect Jonathan Goodson to bid again.
