At least KXAS/Dallas handles it better than WLWT/Cincinnati. Dallas' newscast goes right to the end. For Cincinnati, it's sports, then three minutes of commercials, then a quick weather close, and three more minutes of ads, and THEN Leno. Oh yeah, WCPO and WKRC are just as bad.

Is it possible that Cincinnati has determined that blocking out their show in that way generates the best revenue from sold ads? Sounds like they're stacking their ads to get as much time as possible in that five-minute window between 11:30 and the start of Leno. Makes perfect sense if they know that they inherit Leno viewers from other channels whose shows end at 11:30.
