Laila Ali gets a new gig
« on: January 09, 2008, 09:42:15 PM »
I couldn't imagine her as a dancer, I can't see her as a sports host, and now, I certainly can't see her as a feature reporter.

From TVNewser.com:

Laila Ali Joins The Early Show
CBS has announced that Laila Ali, of boxing, Dancing With the Stars, and daughter-of-Muhammad Ali fame, is now a contributing features correspondent for The Early Show, effective immediately.

"Laila has a unique skill sets that I've come across in broadcast news," Early Show Senior Executive Producer Shelley Ross says in a press release. "She has been a dedicated educator and author in areas of heath and fitness. She has a spiritual side, while being a fearless competitor. She's a great addition to The Early Show team."

I would assume (or more frankly hope) that she can continue her American Gladiator host duties...

\because I do not want Hulk to be hosting Season 2 by himself...

\\If they do have to replace her...hmm..I would think someone on the order of Jenny Finch or Amanda Beard, but they're both going to be busy with Olympics training...you probably want a female athlete.

What's Summer Sanders doing nowadays?

Of course, you could always try one of those Winter Olympians/X Gamers.

I won't disagree that boxing is a unique skill set for broadcast news, but how is it a useful one?
This signature is currently under construction.

Something better than a gig on the slowest-sinking ship in the history of daytime television, I would hope.

Seriously. How long has CBS's morning show been completely worthless? All they do is rearrange the deck chairs every few years, but ultimately it's the same crap. This is the PERFECT place for Laila Ali.

Well, right now, she is going to have her 2nd kid (due date Jan. 2008).  Although she is a trooper, maybe she will fit into AG 2008 gang...

Corrected.

I like Jennie Finch as a co-host, in more than one way. ;-)
