Encore Software has released Jeopardy Deluxe and Wheel of Fortune Deluxe for the Mac. The updated versions of the classic game shows are available in boxed versions at Macgamestore.com.
Here is the link for WoF and here is the one for Jeopardy.  Per the specs, you'll need at least a G4 processor and Mac OS X 10.3.9.

Wow, computerized versions of game shows are starting to look more and more like the real thing. All the Wheel seems to be missing is the 127 different prize discs. And as a diehard Mac user, I'm glad to see them finally releasing this stuff for the Mac.

Welcome news as a Mac user myself.

However, I don't know that I would advertise on the box that my WoF game has 2,000 puzzles. That just doesn't seem like enough. Puzzles themselves can't take up that much disk space - I'd want to have even more in there to avoid duplicates. Unless the software is smart enough to not reload duplicates.

This all makes me wonder how many puzzles the older Apple II/Nintendo/etc. versions of WoF had.

Figure a full game goes through 8 puzzles, including toss-ups. (I don't even know if the PC version has toss-ups.) That means there is 250 full games in there. By PC trivia game standards, that is a LOT of content.

A H2G2 reference, or am I hopped up on coffee?

Anyway, I think this is welcome news, mainly because the online version at Sony Station apparently requires Internet Explorer to run (which is a pain, especially for Mac users like me who don't feel like opening VMWare Fusion just to play what should be a dinky Flash game).

With this news, I guess I can stop trying to program my own Wheel of Fortune game. Sweet.

It does.

BTW, the format goes like this (for a 3-person game anyway): $1000 Toss-Up, $2000 Toss-Up, Round 1 (Bankrupt/$10000/Bankrupt), Round 2 (Jackpot), Round 3 (Mystery), Bonus Round (if a human player wins).  Once the Jackpot space is landed on, it disappears on the next turn regardless of whether an attempt to solve the puzzle is made.  Similarly, both Mystery wedges disappear when one is picked up.  Also, no $5000 wedge on the wheel.

/Or does that get "10 out of 10 for style plus several million for getting it" as well?
