"All the beat-the-clock, fast action game play that has made the TV show an international hit!"

Where? Germany? France? Sure as hell would explain the David Hasselhoff and Jerry Lewis things.

For $40 a year, you can do pretty much the same thing at the New York Times website, but with much better crosswords.

I downloaded it and played a round...very interesting take on the game.

The "Buzzword" theme plays the entire time as background music.

How the spoiler system works:  If you miss a clue in rounds 2 or 3, your money is taken away by some multiple of the clue value (looks like 3x the clue).  I think.  It wasn't all that clear.

I made the bonus, and had exactly *4* blanks, which was solved with two words.  And I won a trip to London.  Weeeee!

Crosswords Extras, unless I didn't do something right, only allow wagers of $50, half your score, or your entire score.

Decent game, but not to pay for it.

EDIT:  There are getaways.  You have to earn them after they are called, though.

When you're at the grocery game and you hear the beep, think of all the fun you could have at "Crazy Rachel's Checkout Counter!"

Nope, you didn't do anything wrong. That's the way they have it set up.

Also, just for a reference, the Getaways and Grand Prize Trip are worth the exact same amount ($500). Just thought I'd relay.

Not a bad game...I might buy it when my trial's done, I don't know. Probably won't, but I did enjoy it.

EDIT 2: Upon further review, strike the previous statement. Also, the longer you play and more you play and win, the higher the level goes and the higher the stakes are (including in the bonus game and Getaway trips). There are three extras in all three rounds, too.

I suppose you can still learn stuff on TLC, though it would be more in the Goofus & Gallant sense, that is (don't do what these parents did)"- Travis Eberle, 2012

Additions:  You can turn off the complex spoiler system for the game and just play solo.  Definitely a big help.

The bonus is a little more complex than what I thought...you can't call for your own clue...after you "pass", it automatically goes to another clue.  I ran into a problem where it alternated between the two clues for the same letter for a good long while before it shot me over to another part of the board.

Rant mode coming...

Why do you want do know that?

Who knows that?

And if you do, why do you know that?

(Sorry...not in much of a minutia mood.)

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say "because he does."

(It might well be for a stupid reason. But there are a lot of questions we've asked here for stupid reasons.)

Who knows that?
A friend of mine works in typesetting and is quite the font geek. There is a good chance he would know, since he's helped me with similar issues in the past.

And if you do, why do you know that?
Because he literally makes it his business to?

Actually, I'm into fonts myself, so it's a curiously valid question.

GSNFAN, I haven't seen the game itself yet, just screenshots, so that looks like Arial. If the game uses the same font as the show, that would be Gotham.

Well, at least the uninstall process was effortless.  The program itself, though... eeesh.  Just not much of anything there to make me want to play it again, much less purchase it.

Yeah, say what you will about Oberon (and I have, and I will), but their installer is pretty solid, and is delightfully Vista-friendly...

It's just okay to me. Pat Sajak's Lucky Letters is waaaay better.

Yes. I do like the Crosswords game, but with Lucky Letters you can tell that they put a lot more effort into it.
