In fairness, the amount of gameplay in a half hour of Dick Clark's Pyramid was less than eight minutes.
Well, not less than.  More like exactly. (A little more when there's a tie to break.) But the point is taken, and it's something that always amazed me about Pyramid.
You're right about the tiebreaker, of course, but my "less than" was based on the fact that the final team to go usually wins before their thirty seconds are up, and of course anybody who climbs the Pyramid successfully has, by definition, done it in less than sixty seconds.

Sure.  You're a musician, how hard can it be?

Regis announced on his yakfest this morning that taping had wrapped (not sure if he meant on all of the episodes, but still) and the last two guests were Neil Patrick Harris and Rachael Ray.

Ryan.
Betty White seems like a wonderful human being, and is unquestionably very good at games like Password. But she is 86 years old. And with this thing having nothing but timed gameplay . . . I just don't think it's a slam dunk to have her on.
IIRC, she was on Pyramid a few years back and played pretty well. Besides, even if she's 86, I'd put my money on Betty over most of the half-witted celebrities that have been recruited for games shows in the '00s.

To me, the Password Puzzle/Super Password was the perfect example of how you can take a simple game and make it more fun. It kinda shocked me that it wasn't included in the revival. I'm not crazy over the Lightning Roundesque front game- not only because it seems too much like Pyramid, but I think the Puzzle has more of a play along factor.

I'll watch with an open mind.

Fun Fact To Make You Feel Old: Syndicated Jeopeardy has allowed champs to play until they lose longer than they've retired them after five days.

Hey, compared to the lower-tier "celebrities' I'd heard about at earlier tapings, Harris and Ray and O'Donnell, and even Tony Hawk, certainly qualify as stars by any game show standard.  Whether they can play the game or not is a different matter, but at least we're not dealing with Donnymid types.

Neil and Rachael seem like they'd play well.  Good casting call.
When you're at the grocery game and you hear the beep, think of all the fun you could have at "Crazy Rachel's Checkout Counter!"

Regis also mentioned that Harris was a fantastic player, and that Rachel Ray was nervous.

Given he's played a few of them now, and seems to do fairly well at them, it's about time we realize that Harris is a fan.

I read that he had offered personal input in the writing of the TPiR episode of his "How I Met Your Mother" -- which actually turned out to be pretty funny despite the incestual CBS cross-pluggeroo..

/obOtherThread but mildly relevant:  i caught dave price's weather bit today and he had about 20 people behind him compared to the Today Show's 800.  yes, even prime time celebs do have their lackluster moments..
