I'll do a minor info fill-in so you don't have to go to the site if you don't want to, since it seems liked too much work for gslover87.  Typing is tough, isn't it?

GSN sent me a grid today that has O'Hurley Feud replacing an airing of Karn Feud.  It starts May 5th and runs Tuesday through Saturday at 9:30PM ET.  The 9:00PM ET airing of Karn Feud survives, though (sadly).

Although O'Hurley Feud is recent material, I'll take it if it means dumping an airing of Flannel Feud.

As someone who has missed out on a considerable number of O'Hurley Feud episodes, this is great news!

And now, Ion is picking up rerun rights to the show as well. It will begin airing on April 7th and air Monday-Thursdays with two episodes from 7-8pm.

Minor note for the credit freaks, Ion/Pax didn't squeeze Feud's credits, as GSN will probably do.

Carry on. :-P

Didn't Ion/Pax actually air the credits instead of superimposing them on a black screen in that GSN font?

Yep...the only alteration they made was cutting out the pre-recorded fee plugs, leaving a noticeable edit, esp. with the theme song jumping "ahead".

Let's take this from the local station angle.

If I'm a TV station who has bought FFeud for my daily syndicated fare, and then I find out it's being repurposed on GSN, and then I find out it's being repurposed on Ion, I'm going to be pissed.

A station pays a premium amount of money for product, and more importantly, exclusive rights in my television market of said product . If my viewers had the ability to watch the same show on cable, or now, over-the-air (isn't Ion on some low powered VHF stations?), I'm going to have a big talking to with the Fremantle rep and my attorneys.

The only thing is, won't ION be showing the first Season of O'Hurley like they did with Karn/Anderson Feud when they were still Pax?

Not only that, what about the stations that buy King of The Hill, Seinfeld, Law and Order, 24 and the like- same situation, no?

Not quite. Often with syndie product, it's agreed before hand that the local station will 'share' rights with a cable distribution. Scrubs is a good example of this. Double runs on local stations coupled with a double run on Comedy Central...all premiering the same season.

The question is : in the local station syndie contract, is there a line that allows for reruns to be aired on cable (or Ion, which may or may not be over-the-air)?

That is called "off-network" syndication, and I believe there is some kind of understanding with popular program such as these (maybe someone can elaborate further).  This is providing reruns to a program already in syndication.
