Every month, TCM brings in one lucky stiff to pick four of his or her favorite movies, and present them alongside TCM host Robert Osborne. In April 2008, the Guest Programmer is none other than
Jeopardy! host
Alex Trebek. His night of picks, airing on Monday, April 14, is:
8:00 PM ET:
The Professionals, in which Burt Lancaster, Lee Marvin, and Robert Ryan are hired by Ralph Bellamy to rescue his wife from Jack Palance;
10:00 PM: the 1939 version of
Wuthering Heights, in which Merle Oberon lives fast, dies young, and leaves an impossibly beautiful corpse (it's one of the most implausible death scenes I've ever seen) because she's married to David Niven's Edgar, but pines for Laurence Olivier's Heathcliff;
12:15 AM:
Lonely Are the Brave, in which Kirk Douglas gets himself into prison to help a friend escape, only to find out that his friend doesn't want to escape;
2:15 AM:
Little Big Man, in which Dustin Hoffman is kidnapped and raised by Indians and goes on to fight General Custer.
I didn't pay close enough attention to the promo to see whether he still had the cast on his wrist.
