Be sure to stay tuned because today, Child's Play is introducing a new bonus game called "Turnabout"(OAD: April 25, 1983), this will mark the first time since October 1997 this bonus game gets shown on TV and also, Bill is now introduced as "the star of CP". So, I'm sure many of you guys have at least a couple of episodes with the Turnabout era in your collection already.

Is it me, or was this bonus game a hell of a lot easier than "ABC?"

It depends of what kids you get and if they have the ability to understand what the heck the adults are saying. While it was nice to see the kids on stage, I think it put a lot of pressure on them as they might the the feeling they were responsible for the success of the adult contestant. It was the front round of "Pyramid" played with kids.

Now that we're in the Turnabout end game era, Dolly Pressler's appearances should be coming up later in the week since there used to be an episode with her uploaded on the web before and I think there's only one episode with her in our tape/DVD collection.

Sometimes. I liked ABC better, only because the $5,000 was yours to lose. In Turnabout, the kids' stood between you and the money. If the kid didn't know that you were describing "oatmeal", you were screwed.

I hated "Turnabout" because to me, seeing it be just like an ordinary main game round of Pyramid gave it an overall whiff of staleness. It seemed more like they were just trying to concoct an excuse to showcase the kids more rather than any real flaw in the Triple Play format.

My objection was more that, as you said, the purpose was to showcase the kids, but that it didn't do that. On paper, sure, it looked like the kids would be interacting with Bill, the contestant, and each other. What actually happened was they were whisked onstage for 2 minutes, immediately played a game where they were under pressure to do well, and then they were done.

Child's Play was a broken game, but ideally, I think they should have just had the players go to a set score in the front game, played the Triple Play game, and given Bill four or five minutes at the end of the show to pretend he was Art Linkletter with one or more of the kids.

And I agree with you about Child's Play. Nifty core of an idea, surrounded by lots of been-there, done-that.
