Unless it's for the overnight hours (and that's a big unless), I can't see GSN rebroadcasting classic radio game shows, or just turn on the TV feed and air the audio of GSN TV (similar to what the national cable news channels currently do for Sirius and XM).
As Mr. West noted, we should expect some talk shows and interactive games, but I'm very curious as to what in terms of talk and interactive play we should expect. Will we see GSN Radio recruit big-name sponsors and/or financial backers to put together a big-money or big-prize quiz (say, $50-$100,000), or will the interactive play consist of winning GSN hats, Pizza Hut coupons and the like?
I may be in the minority, but I could see a casino element playing well in this kind of a format. Poker news and chat shows, live coverage of poker tournaments, etc., could translate well on radio, plus the more modern XM and Sirius receivers could show player hands on the digital readouts.
Having worked for satellite radio in the past (did traffic and weather reports for one of the satellite services a few years ago), I can tell you that the services are not handing out the big bucks to employees, outside of major hosts, DJs and the like. Most hires on the production side will likely be recent college or trade school (Columbia/Connecticut Schools of Broadcasting) grads who just want to get their feet wet in the business. Few, if any, will be hardcore or casual game show fans. I would love to see GSN Radio bring in a radio guy with knowledge of how the radio and satellite biz works, but I have my doubts.
