Hehe, I'm curious. Hypothetically-speaking, $1.37 per set sold or a one-time fee? [/quote]
The 37 cents x 5 = $1.85 is just a joke to poke fun at the poor deal that the directors, writers and performers have for DVD sales that is based on negotiations conducted way back when DVDs were a new technology.
The fight over increased DVD compensation was part of the rift between AFTRA and SAG that you might have heard about in recent weeks. SAG was urging AFTRA members to reject their recently negotiated contract under the mistaken impression that a "no" vote might open the opportunity to renegotiate better terms. But the reality is that the entity that represents the major studios/producers stands firm on the DVD issue as it's a huge moneymaker, and won't give any one of the four unions (DGA, WGA, AFTRA, SAG) any more than it gives the others. AFTRA members thumbed their noses at the misguided faction at SAG, and approved the new contract just last night. While it's a fair deal it doesn't do much for compensation from DVDs.
Short answer: I'm not sure what the true compensation will ultimately be for this release.
