I like the guy, so I'd love to be wrong on both counts. Certainly of the three people I mentioned, he's the one I'd play with first.

Agreed.

In fact, I wonder if Drew will be playing (how bout a Drew vs Nigel Wick battle?)?

Seeing that Betty is going to play again proves that someone who cares is on the staff.

Of the newbies, I'd play with Keoghan.  Seems like a bright guy.

Of course, if you get, say, ROADBLOCK (if it's a legal word, play with me, folks):

No. Fegurson would be great. He's written books, essays and screenplays, so I'm going to assume he knows words pretty well.
My concern with Ferguson is this: The few times I've watched his show (Conan man here, when I'm up that late), he gives me this absent-minded vibe. Not what I want with money on the line. Also, I have concerns over the potential for Letterman Factor: trying to be funny and stay in "character" instead of hunkering down and doing his job.
I think that's more the nature of the show.  If you're watching someone with a funny accent at 12:35 in the morning, you're probably not interested in something cerebral.  I would be a little about the Letterman factor, though.

My initial reaction was Ferguson would either be really good or fail spectacularly.

judges? *ding*

Carolla I'd avoid like the plague...It would be interesting with Keoghan and Chen (Chen does do news, so that could be an advantage I think), Chandler and Ferguson are wildcards to me (but Ferguson is good at improvisation- he only has general notes for his opening monologues- so that could be an advantage too), and of course Betty would be the premiere partner..

That's a pairing I'd avoid at all cost. I still don't get how Jamie Kennedy even got a television show (he's not funny), and I'm afraid to see how old Turd Ferguson would do.

A number of us were wondering why there were no on-set chairs for the game players during our final in studio run-through.  The reason is now apparent; Bill Shatner's going to be there.

Anybody who saw how utterly befuddled he was during his last appearance on Jay Leno should be very frightened indeed.

And yeah, I pity the poor bastards who get to play with Norm and Jamie. I guess they couldn't afford Bob Saget.

Actually, Norm's pretty literate despite his penchant for low-brow comedy.

I'm reminded of his appearance on the first set of Celebrity Millionaire episodes.  After screwing around all week and being the last one to make the hot seat, the only reason he didn't win a million dollars is that he let Regis talk him out of pulling the trigger on one he was pretty sure he knew.  Left a lot of people with the impression that he's a LOT smarter than he pretends to be.  The question as always is whether he'll use this opportunity to play the fool or whether he'll buckle down because there's a real human being (maybe even someone we know!) standing across from him who could use the money.

As for Shatner, I'd be worried even if he was in his prime, much less if he's looking more "befuddled" these days.  He was infamously a lousy Pyramid player, and despite a pretty lengthy list of celebrity game show appearances, I don't know that he ever did any incarnation of Password. (Turns out he did do You Don't Say and Snap Judgment, however.)  I don't think word association is his bag.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Would it be too much for a contestant to ask the celebrity to do their best and not be like their "character" that they portray on TV?  What Chad or somebody doesn't need is for Jamie (or anybody else) to act like a stupid asswipe during the game and screw it up for the contestant.

/Except for Betty...she can be like she is on TV

No, it would not be.

Does that mean the celebrity is going to listen? Not necessarily.

Could a contestant ask whoever is in charge to tell the audience coordinator to stop the stupid cheering after getting every answer right?

/They probably would say no.
//It wouldn't hurt.
