I assume you've seen the one with a cat, a feather, and the caption "Nom de Plume"?

Anyway, DoND is more like an "unreality" show, but so far there is no category of that type.

There are more than a few suitcase girls who seem to be typifying "unreality"... ;)

"Hell's Kitchen" (my only favorite true reality show)
I'm curious, why do you think it's a "true" reality show?
Simple -- people do stunts to win special rewards; they have TV cameras follow every move; they have the riffraff voted off at the end of each episode.

If you didn’t create it, it isn’t your content.

Fair. I don't agree that the definition is that rigid, but fair. The way you said it implied that you considered HK a "true" reality show whereas you didn't feel that way necessarily about Survivor and TAR, as if there was something "false" about those.

Which network airs the Emmys this year? Don't they get to pick? (I assume that's why CBS gave us the always entertaining Bryant Gumbel a few years back, when he was their big new hire.)

And they'd avoid a lot of semantic arguments if they'd label the category "unscripted" rather than "reality."

It's on ABC this year....The networks get some input but it's the TV Academy's final decision I believe.

I think the thing is, there's still a possibility the actors could strike and boycott the Emmys, so they decided to make sure the show would at least have a host (or in this case, five) to do something for the broadcast...Bergeron could probably do it alone (and he has hosted the Daytime Emmys before), but at least this way the winner of the category will be there.
