There.  Apparently, the first character in a line just needs to not be a space.  Certainly not an optimal solution, but it does work.

Using the score displays and the dollar display, and Chris's help, I was able to make what I think is a pretty reasonable replica for all the numbers. I'm not sure I even need a font now. I think the pictures I made will work just fine. Thanks for all the help!

How did Marty get the character set for the movie? If he didn't get it from kinescopes then he just made them up and they may or not be true to the original.
