Me thinks Fred Westbrook/Wostbrock has something to do with Wink and 'Gambit' being featured. Why not 'Tic Tac Dough'? Isn't that what Wink did on Today a few years ago? And to think Fred didn't get TK to show up to wax poetic about 'Split Second'...

/MONTE hall?

I actually once thought that was how his name was spelled.

Per Wikipedia (and take that for what it's worth), his name has "sometimes" been spelled Monte.  I've never seen that, though.

The person who did the promo didn't really do their homework, either../MONTE hall?

Perhaps they were copying his name from the box lid of the home version of Your First Impression.

Re: Wink and Gambit. Wink hosted a demo of the game on some talk show several years ago and no  card greater than a seven was dealt. I hope they shuffle, rather than stack, the deck this time!

A day after LMAD and nothing?

I thought Monty looked decent.  I unfortunately missed most of the sit-down interview with him, but did catch him hosting the attempt at the show.  Monty took his sweet time with the "contestants," and I could feel the GMA anchors trying to push him along -- they had more show to do, after all.

I saw him live a couple of years ago at a local casino, hosting a more full-fledged version of LMAD.  He seemed a little lost then, too, but I understand that one isn't always going to be 100% in their later years.

Anyone else catch the Good Morning America segments?

When did Monte sell out to Fremantle Media? All of the LMAD clips had a "Fremantle Media" bug on them. Or did I miss a thread somewhere?

Here's a YouTube clip from the 70's  that showed his other spelling.  It's a Canadian PSA advising people to participate in the Variety Club bike race to benefit the charity.

/Monty has done some yearly 18-hour telethons with Channel 6 in Philly (done at the long-gone Philadelphia Civic Center) until 1992(?) that supported our local Variety Club.

GMA doesn't really allow a direct link(since it's a javascript for the copy link) anyhow, but just enter Monty Hall in the search and it will show up.

On the LMAD thing, we know that they've been Fremantle per the letsmakeadeal.com site, plus the fact it was part of "Game Show Marathon" in '06.

Not sure when, but LMaD was featured in Ricki's Game Show Marathon, which featured Fremantle shows.

Wasn't Fremantle involved with international licensing of the "Deal" format? That would have been their entree to acquiring rights to the domestic format from Monty.

Fremantle did license the show internationally, but they did not have format and show rights here in the states until the Game Show Marathon in 2006.  Also, Fremantle only owns LMAD.  They do not have rights to the rest of the Hatos-Hall library.  Monty also still owns the copyright to the Let's Make A Deal name.
