The $25,000/$100,000 Pyramid Question
« on: September 11, 2008, 10:50:05 AM »
I know this is a longshot, but thought I'd ask anyway.  I used to watch the 80's Pyramid when it was on USA back in the day.  I remember seeing an episode where the winner's circle category was "Game Show Hosts".  Does anyone recall what show that category was used on?  Thank you!

The one that originally aired on 16 Tishri 5744?

Seriously, even if you're only asking which of the (25k|100k) Pyramid the category originally aired in (I hope that's all you wanted), it's a pretty obscurantist question.  I won't be surprised to see a string of answers even more obnoxious than mine.

That was my initial reaction as well, but then I mulled it over for a second and thought about the other completely obscure-assed bits of information that the hive mind here has come up with for folks over the years.

I would not be the *least* bit surprised if someone came up with an answer for this guy.

And who am I to disappoint Mr. Lemon?

I saw it come up twice in the '80s: once with Richard Dean Anderson in 1982 and once with Ed Begley Jr. in 1985 (who misread it as TALK SHOW HOSTS at first).

Truthfully, I had the same initial reaction as both of the other posts...until I realized, frighteningly enough, that I actually had the answer. And, yes, before anyone asks, I do leave the house every now and then. ;-)

If you want to go by Fedya's calculation, then the subject in question was definitely on The NEW $25,000 Pyramid, as 100K was not  ברודקשט

prior to the end of 5745.

BTW, the celebrities on 16 Tishrei 5744 were Audrey Landers and Charlie Siebert.

No, I don't think I "made a funny", per se.  Actually, the hebrew word I used was quite appropriate.

I believe the Hebrew word shown here is a phonetic spelling of the word "broadcast".

Thanks Brendan for your answer!  Yes, I know it was an off the wall question but one that I had to ask.  With some of the stuff that's talked about on here, I'm not surprised that someone knew the answer.  Thank you!

Personally, I don't think you have to.  Even though it wasn't designed to be funny, it was certainly a creative way of adding to the post.  That would get a "well played" in my book.

/Happy 5769, coming up!
