There's actually 2 Polaroid spots--one with Anne Bancroft and the other with Joan Crawford.

It looks like the color episodes on disc 4 have been chopped up sadly. Other than that, its a solid set so far. I can't wait to look at discs 2 and 3.

Well, the chopped color episodes are something nobody has control over.  All that exist are the late 60s syndication prints that were edited to fit in more commercials.

Not necessarily.  BCI doesn't always tend to pick episodes based on what WE would think of as their "historic" value (though they sorta did with the TPIR set).  Betty White and Frank Gifford faced off many times, and if BCI found an episode they liked better than the finale, they probably wouldn't have any problem choosing it.

1) Is the shows' original aspect ratio intact?
[/quote]
Yes.

2) How's the bitrate? Does it match up to the speed of videotape? Catnap72 complained a while back how horribly lagging the bitrate was on a few episodes of the Family Feud DVD.

It lags a LITTLE, but it's nowhere near as brutal as the "Feud" set.

An interesting coincidence, connected with the Password set.  This evening, I'm watching an episode from Disc Two ... the one with Carol Burnett and Robert Preston.  Carol's civilian partner is introduced as Gary Justice, from Neosho, Missouri.

At a radio station here in KC, I used to work with a guy by the last name of Justice ... and I seemed to remember him saying he was from southwestern Missouri.  Furthermore, this Gary guy, from the 1964 Password episode, sortof resembles my buddy if I squint just right.  So I send an email.

He quickly replies that Gary is his dad!  At the time, he was a student at Yale divinity and he answered an ad to be a contestant.  Not sure, yet, whether my friend is aware that his dad's appearance is available on DVD.  I've emailed him to let him know.  (A great gift idea, eh?)

Got the set last night...pretty good actually. The way they did the DVD menus was a nice touch (Discs 1-3 are in black and white, but Disc 4 is in color because that disc has the color episodes)

I wish my Best Buy would get the set in.  If I don't see it by next Tuesday, guess I'll have to order it online.

I didn't realize it was only $20 at Best Buy.  That's a really good deal.

I too hope my local Best Buy gets it in, too.

When you're at the grocery game and you hear the beep, think of all the fun you could have at "Crazy Rachel's Checkout Counter!"

I have to admit, looking at a couple B/W episodes in the set, the picture quality is incredibly not as good as what I've been used to seeing on GSN.   The image looks much softer to the point where it looks closer to a "kinescope" quality than the sharper videotape look I've been used to seeing.

It was on sale Thursday night at the BB I got it at for $19.99. I didn't even know it was on sale until the total rang up less than I expected. One thing though- they shelved it under "B" for "Best of" and not "P" for Password..that was strange (I almost missed getting it until I thought about that).
