As far as my reason for opting PS3 over Wii, I've gotten so used to playing Mega Man games where the button configuration is Y/Square (SNES/PS) for shoot and B/X for jump that playing it with the Wiimote sideways would be akward for me. Besides, Capcom f'ed up the Mega Man Collection on GameCube by reversing the jump/shoot configuration with NO way to change it so I wasn't gonna risk getting burned again.

The Wii Classic Controller is your best friend.
But I agree with you 100% about the Mega Man Anniversary Collection. If it weren't for the facts that (a) I had no PS2 at the time and (b) I have played a lot of Metroid Prime, which hs the same shoot/jump scheme as MMAC...well, I would have still bought it, but the learning curve would be unreasonably sharp. All the more reason why I support your reasoning.
