Late Show "Fun Facts"
« on: October 02, 2008, 01:33:09 PM »
Here's some of the game show-related highlights:

Quote
[color=\"#ffffff\"]
    Pat Sajak has spent millions trying to develop a letter that would be a vowel/consonant hybrid.
    Wink Martindale has a brother named Blink.
    Alex Trebek threatens to roughen up contestants if they don't give him ten percent of their winnings.
    George W. Bush has never missed an episode of
Deal or No Deal.
Drew Carey got the Price is Right job after correctly guessing what his salary would be without going over.
Seven Hollywood Squares panelists were seriously injured when Dom  DeLuise, Louie Anderson, and Roseanne Barr were all seated in the top  row.

I would think in case someone wants to buy the book and not be spoiled ahead of time.

I agree, and it's a much better tool than the big plastered "SPOILER ALERT" tag some people use.

This way, if you want to read, all you have to do is highlight the text, and those who want to be surprised can have that too. Winner winner, chicken parm dinner. For two.

I suppose you can still learn stuff on TLC, though it would be more in the Goofus & Gallant sense, that is (don't do what these parents did)"- Travis Eberle, 2012

The Hollywood Squares reference was also the basis of a sketch I heard 20+ years ago. The VO announces the stars, who are all of the same body type referenced, and you hear the set starting to creak toward the end.
Protecting idiots from themselves just leads to more idiots.
