Price is Right: I seem to remember...
« on: October 15, 2008, 02:04:37 PM »
...an incident in which, during a game of Double Prices for a spa, a cat (which may have been stored away for an SPCA plug or may have gotten in there by his own means) was discovered in the spa, having kittens. And I remember the whole game sorta paused for a second to marvel at this miracle of life.

Somehow, I remember it being there for a SPCA plug, which doesn't make sense, since AFAIK he didn't do plugs during pricing games.

I don't see it on Youtube, and I've never seen it replayed on any specials. The episode I'm talking about aired on GSN many years back, but I wanna say the episode was from the early-to-mid 80s.

Am I crazy?

Yes.

Look, use a little logic. How many times have you seen Yolanda's blue-blobbed-out-gazongas? If what you claim did happen, don't you think that clip would have shown up fourteen BILLION times on the various specials and clip shows and retrospectives over the years?

Considering the mission to promote control of the pet population, I doubt they would ever use a pregnant cat for an SPCA plug.

Could even use the same intro tagline.

I was half-right.

From temptation79ga at golden-road.net:

Quote
I want to say it was Double Prices played at the giant pricetag. Bob commented that they had found a cat and her kittens living in the prize when they went to remove it from the warehouse, and they did make a pretty big deal about it during the game. He even went over to the hot tub and peeked in to make sure they weren't "still in there."

If by "half-right" you mean "not even close," sure.

Oh, come on...as ludicrous as I admit the original story sounded, he wasn't that far off.

"They talked about something that may or may not have happened at the 'prize warehouse'" vs. "it was there on camera and the whole game stopped down to 'marvel at the miracle of life?'"?

Um, ok.

"There were puppies in the hot tub, and they took a little time out to show them on camera," vs. "They found some puppies in the hot tub in the warehouse, and Bob took a little time out to talk about it."

The latter apparently happened, and I can see someone's imagination morphing the long-ago incident into the former.

My problem is with the "marvel at the miracle of life" embellishment.

But, whatever.

I seem to remember a similar to an incident in the early '90s when Barker invited the models into a hot tub to marvel at the miracle of conception.

/For someone his age, anyway.
