Excluding TPIR, what was the first daytime network game show to have episodes air more than once? We know that episodes of Classic Concentration were rerun, but was it the first?

According to Wikipedia (yeah, I know), The Magnificent Marble Machine.

ABC's Let's Make a Deal would occassionally repeat and Jay Stewart recorded a disclaimer stating such.  While it was a primetime show,  "Celebrity Game" was also repeated on CBS Sunday afternoons two years after the initial run.

"Dream Girl" also repeated a handful of shows, if one includes that under the game show tent.

It seemed to me that at least one show a week out of the ratings periods (before I knew they were ratings periods) was a repeat, usually on Monday.  "LMAD" also seemed to have at least three or four repeat weeks a year.  Since I seem to have heard that they taped no more than two daytime shows in one day, if they taped two days a week that seems about right.

Wasn't the only reason the 1966-67 daytime eps of PASSWORD were preserved was that they were earmarked for syndication?

I seem to recall that TJW eps being rerun was what paved the way for the series to be resurrected in 1977.\

And of course, GONG eps were rerun in a 5-day strip starting in 1978.

/And the countdown to 3500 ends.  :)

I believe it was on Steve Beverly's page at one time where he mentioned that some sort of strike in 1967 forced Newlywed Game and Password into reruns for a month.

Can't remember any more details than that, so you might want to take it with a grain of salt :)

I do remember that strike because ABC put in reruns of Inger Stevens' "The Farmer's Daughter" for a few days in place of one of their late afternoon soaps. A nice change, IMO.  Don't remember the games being pre-empted, so they must have been repeats.

I would assume the honor to go to Shenanigans since it was Saturday daytime and they probably did only so many shows in 1964-65, only to have it last until the weekend before Christmas 1965.

How many Runaround shows did they make for the 52 weeks they were on? 13? 26?

If you typically tape four shows per week and have no returning contestants (and you're on ABC) it makes sense to do reruns every so often and take some time off, rather than bust your butt taping ahead. Especially if your emcee co-owns the show.

I don't see any indication of Password being affected by the AFTRA strike in 1967 that caused reruns to get plugged in, because the episode guides for daytime Password show an uninterrupted series of weeks.   The strike began on March 29, 1967 and every week of daytime Password that starts from that point on in the on-line episode guides are shows that GSN aired from the syndicated packages.

Some of the amusing things that happened during that AFTRA strike included ABC technicians being forced to do PBP for NBA playoff games, and an obscure nobody named Arnold Zinker I think being forced to do the CBS Evening News in place of Walter Cronkite.

Here's an article on Arnold Zenker.

Based on what is said at the end of the article, I would absolutely love to hear Cronkite's opening on his first newscast back

I remember looking forward to finally being able to see Snap Judgment one morning in 1967, only to have NBC bump it (strike related) for a rerun of The Life Of Riley.  What a revoltin' development THAT was.

My NBC station covered 10-10:30 with the last half hour of a movie anyway, but this must have been what filled the slot between the cancellation of Reach for the Stars and the debut of Snap.
