Yes, I was a student in 1967 as well, but the strike happened during an Easter/Spring vacation from school.

Some of the amusing things that happened during that AFTRA strike included ABC technicians being forced to do PBP for NBA playoff games, and an obscure nobody named Arnold Zinker I think being forced to do the CBS Evening News in place of Walter Cronkite.

Here's an article on Arnold Zenker.

Based on what is said at the end of the article, I would absolutely love to hear Cronkite's opening on his first newscast back

Which reminds me of a classic David Brinkley story: the night after Barbara Walters made her much-hyped debut as an anchor on ABC, Brinkley started the NBC Nightly News with "Good evening...and welcome back."
This isn't a plug, but you can ask me about my book.

I know this isn't the first by any stretch, but did Family Feud have a whole season of reruns in the 1993-94 season after Combs got the boot?  I was told that FF was on production hiatus for a full year until Dawson returned.

According to Wikipedia (yeah, I know), The Magnificent Marble Machine.

Also according to Wikipedia, The Money Maze[/i], and I can vouch for the last week of the run being reruns (and being ticked that they didn't get a chance to say goodbye).

But, judging from what I see here, I'd say the honor goes to Let's Make a Deal (if we discount Password's syndie reruns).

Feud didn't go on production hiatus after firing Combs, in fact when GSN was airing Combs episodes this time last year they began airing reruns from the 1993-94 season (such as the "1994 Super Bowl" week with NFL quarterbacks that was taped early on in the cycle).

The clearances for Feud by then were abysmal with many markets not picking up the show at all or airing in odd timeslots. Could the format changes in 1992 have hurt the show that much?

/ Still amazed the current version has outlasted Dawson in terms of pure length with all its instability.

I doubt the format changes hurt, but rather simply failed to stop the bleeding.

IIRC, WCAU-10 in Philly (then CBS) continued to air Family Feud (by now the syndie) in the 10am-11am timeslot. I even think I remember the TVG continuing to list it as "Family Feud Challenge".

WHTM-27 in Harrisburg stuck with the show, keeping it in the prime-access 7:30pm slot for the 1993-1994 season as well.

I remember the "Family Feud Challenge" listing for syndie Feud showing up in TVG for WRAL in Raleigh too. When I first saw the listings for both I was wondering why they'd still be airing it but not WCBS.

As for New York, WWOR was airing it in the 4:00-5:00 hour and somehow it was syndex-proof and was one of the few shows to be on the local and EMI Service feeds. Helped some markets nearby markets get Feud such as Albany (no clearance) and Hartford (where WVIT dropped it at the end of 1993 in favor of a relocated Vicki!).

They *did* have a rerun-run that season, to pair with the new episodes to make an hour; that may have something to do with the confusion.
