80s Split Second Theme
« on: June 19, 2003, 12:15:54 PM »
I just downloaded this from the Yahoo Game Show Concert group.  Pretty cool...that guitar cut sounds like something from an 80s teen angst movie. :-)

Anywho...this theme reminded me alot of the UK Blockbusters theme...anyone know if they were composed by the same person?

Nah, I think either SHeldon Allman or Todd Thicke composed the 1986-87 Split Second theme. Not sure who did the UK Blockbusters theme.

I really forgot how good of a theme it is.  Very well done.

It's a Yahoo! group, so you must join it to get to the files page.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GameShowConcert/

The file isn't exactly in the best quality, and there is some slight appluse at the end, but I still say it's a must download.

The 80's Split Second theme is among my list of favorites!  I am still angry at my mother for recording over my Split Second tape with soap operas.  So it is definitely great to hear this theme again after all of these years.

Hmm...I wasn't aware there was a 1980s version of Split Second until today...

Yes I believe from either 1986 or 1987 hosted by Monty Hall.

According to loogslair, Split Second '86 ran from December 1986 to September 1987.  I really miss seeing that show in reruns on the Family Channel.

Amen!  What a terrific game.

...Although I wouldn't mind losing the this-has-nothing-to-do-with-the-maingame car round (from either version, come to think of it).

I think the bonus game should have SOME basis from the maingame, maybe get 10 right answers before making 3 wrong ones to win something? Maybe give the winnings like H2, maybe day one can be for a car or something.

But, yes, both versions of Split Second had completely-unrelated-to-the-maingame bonus rounds.

The game's called 'Split Second' because it required split second reflexes to play.  I'd say do something along the lines of a one-man 'Jack Attack' from the 'You Don't Know Jack' video games for a bonus round.
