Who Wants to be a Best Picture Nominee?

There's a lot of buzz going around for a small movie called "Slumdog Millionaire". Basically, it's about an illiterate young man who has made it to the final question on the Indian version of WWTBAM. No one believes that such a person would be able to answer the questions on the show, so he gets hauled to the police station iand nterrogated about possibly cheating. He tells the detective in charge how, through incidents in his life (he was orphaned at an early age and lived on the streets, and there are a lot of flashbacks), he found out the answers to the questions- but he's not there for the money. He thinks he's fated to be with a woman who he's loved and lost throughout his life.

It's been doing very well at film festivals, and some people think it might have a chance to get some Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.

Here's the website for the movie...

(And unlike the book- "Q&A" by Vikas Swarup, which is pretty good- they actually were able to use the WWTBAM format, because Celedor, who originally had the WWTBAM rights, is helping to produce the film)

Opening in New York, Chicago, LA and Toronto Nov. 12, everywhere else (well, other big cities) on Nov. 28.  I'm really stoked to see this film.  Love how the trailer uses the PAF cue in the beginning.

Nov. 12 in LA, NY, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington and Toronto, and then a slow rollout, with the bulk of North America opening on either Dec. 19 or Dec. 26.

Also, the film's 100% on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer (only 17 critics so far, but that's an impressive score--they all liked it).
