GSN Schedule Jan 09
« on: December 19, 2008, 01:02:15 AM »
Effective 1/5/09:
(Changes only)
Daytime:
9:30 AM: Card Sharks (Bob Eubanks) [replaces Tic Tac Dough]
-----
Primetime:
8:00 PM: Family Feud (Richard Karn) [replaces Who Wants to be a Millionaire? (Meredith Vieira)]
9:00 PM: Family Feud (John O'Hurley) [replaces Family Feud (Richard Karn)]
9:30 PM: Who Wants to be a Millionaire? (Meredith Vieira) [replaces Family Feud (John O'Hurley)]
10:00 PM: Pyramid (Donny Osmond) [replaces Catch 21]
10:30 PM: Chain Reaction (Dylan Lane) [replaces Pyramid (Donny Osmond)]

Overnight:
12:00 AM: Who Wants to be a Millionaire? (Regis Philbin) [replaces Who Wants to be a Millionaire? (Meredith Vieira) 2x]
1:00 AM: Jeopardy! (Alex Trebek) [replaces That's The Question]
1:30 AM: Wheel of Fortune (Pat Sajak) [replaces Camouflage]
2:00 AM: Family Feud (John O'Hurley) [replaces Beat the Clock (Monty Hall)]
2:30 AM: Match Game '7x [replaces Now You See It]

As mentioned before, Bill Rafferty's Blockbusters replaces Bill Cullen's version once the current run completes; Rafferty takes over starting 1/18.   Also, while the original Excel grid I was provided doesn't note this, the PDF files now posted to Buzzer note that the 1-2 AM Jeopardy/Wheel hour will be repeats of the episodes that air during GSN Live earlier in the day.

That figures.  I had planned to put the entire week of Hall BTCs with Bobby Van and Elaine Joyce on one team on a DVD-R.  Got as far as the first two or three shows, and I actually had the others GSN ran before dumping it saved on my Cox-Motorola DVR, with the intention of preserving or at least watching them.  Unfortunately, the DVR doesn't alert me as to when the hard drive is full, and they all got wiped out automatically before I got a chance to do anything with them.  Same thing with the prime time Emmys (yes, I know, the show sucked, but there were parts I wanted to save anyway).  Now I'm seeking someone who has them with the hopes of doing a trade...on the off-chance I have enough stuff they actually want.

The Tic Tac Dough removal I can kinda sorta deal with since they're simply replaying the 1979-80 season these days. As for Now You See It, are we going to get to see the final show or are they yanking it just short of the June 13th 1975 episode?
With this schedule change, it'll mark the first time since I gained full-time permanent access to the channel in 2001 that except for occasional special treats, my VCR won't be rolling on anything GSN carries.
Now I can grab WKRP In Cincinnati, The Time Tunnel, Mission: Impossible and much more from American Life TV, which (calling all purists!) runs its end credits unscrunched and un-talked over.
Query! Would it kill 'em to run the 1978-79 episodes of Jeopardy! at one in the morning?

I would think we're going to end up short.  I don't know offhand how many episodes there were, but the 1/2/09 (or really 1/3/09) ep is #291.

If the PDF's are correct, we are going to miss the last episode by 17 shows! Yeah, I don't get it, either.

About the 'KRP reruns, is the original music intact? I know on the WGN reruns, they sometimes aren't (especially in the earlier seasons).

At least they showed the full run of Thom McKee on TTD. That was good to see again.  As for the rest of the changes, I'm not exactly jumping up and down going "Yippee!"

From what I've read on the IMDb boards, they keep the original music intact.

Is American Life available on satellite? I see they have some pretty good (and somewhat obscure) shows...

I no longer have ALN, but I don't believe this was the case.

I guess that doesn't bode well for the return of Joker's Wild, Break the Bank, or any other B-E show in the near future, does it?  :(

I'm more worried by the fact the Wheel and J! reruns are run twice during the day now. With the news of the termination of GSN's West Coast feed, I fear the return of the "run the same 12 shows 4 times a day" schedules...

Now they'll have to revamp the RAYBURN'S ELEVEN promo again! But then, we're getting near the end of the Kennedy era.....

On the other hand, maybe the Eubanks CS will pick up from where they left off the last time it was on weekdays.
