New postage stamps unveiled, commemorate early TV
« on: December 30, 2008, 01:09:56 PM »
The U.S. Postal Service has unveiled a set of 20 new stamp designs which will become available in August.  It's called Early TV Memories, and it commemorates the likes of Lucy and Ethel on the candy assembly line, Dina Shore blowing a kiss, Jack Webb as Joe Friday, and (drumroll, please), You Bet Your Life, starring the one, the only, Groucho!

According to an AP article, the stamps will also feature Ozzie & Harriet, Alfred Hitchcock, Ed Sullivan, Burns and Allen, Hopalong Cassidy, Jackie Gleason, Howdy Doody, Kukla Fran and Ollie (or is that Cuckoo, Friend and ... oh, never mind ... anyway ...) Lassie, Bob Hope, The Lone Ranger, Perry (not Iris) Mason, Phil Silvers, Red Skelton, Texaco Star Theater, The Tonight Show, and The Twilight Zone.
