I have been thinking of a format that may be good for syndicated password (if it comes to pass).  Front game consists of two half.  First half, is the front game of "Million Dollar Password".  The contestant who wins the first half gets to decide which celeb they want to play with in the second half of the front game.  Second half is "Classic" Password, and the contestant brings their score from the first half.  First to 50 points wins.  Limit clue giving and guessing to 5 seconds, and make the last chance to score on a Password at the 5 point level.  At this point, I haven't thought of a bonus round yet.
My favorite Win Ben Stein's Money Category:

Where Am I Doc? Urinalysis Restaurant.

It has little to do with buying power and more to do with Brand Loyalty.

Mr 57 has been buying the same toothpaste/car/whathaveyou for 40 years and doesn't give a crap about the new Colgate/Ford Focus/whathaveyou.

Mr 20 is just out of college and is willing to buy the new Colgate/FordFocus/whathaveyou because they just saw it in a commercial last night on How I Met Your Mother. And thus, Brand Loyalty begins (so hopes Colgate-Palmolive/Bill Ford  Jr)
Despite decent total households, Sitcoms Online feels that the weak 18-49 demo numbers were what did it in.  Drat.
OK, just want to remind the class that the last four pages worth of stupid networks don't know what they're doing and other end of the world as we know it proclamations are all based, best as I can tell, on what one online blog THINKS is the reason CBS pulled the shows.  I have a hard time believing that the oldest-skewing network is going to cancel a top-twenty show because of its demographics.  My bet is we'll see the last two shows at some point, and maybe more besides.

If 18-40 year olds are the issue, maybe the host is part of the problem. Regis Philbin isn't exactly young and vibrant, and he doesn't come off as well on Password as he did on Millionaire, where he could sit and chat.
And since WHEN did CBS decide to care for the younger demos?  Outside of the Monday Night comedy line-up (Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, SPOCK!!!) their other primetime (mostly crimetime) shows are pulling in boku numbers mostly in the older demos.

Heck, when those primers air opposite American Idol in the past and most likely again in the next few months, they are DEFINITELY losing the younger demos, but they sure make up for it in the older demos to place a respectable second place in the network ratings against AI -- well ahead of NBC & ABC.  And of course we know who advertisers are going after on TPIR -- those older demos with disposable (Depends) incomes.

Yeah, it's more than likely the poor celebrity players who brought down MDP, but if CBS says they canned it solely for lack of younger demos, then why the hell did they place it after 60 Minutes!?!? -- I don't know of too many 20-somethings who watch a bunch of 80-somethings discuss topics geared for 50 or 60 year olds.

MDP should move to Monday nights if they want the young-un's attention.  Otherwise, if it's pulling in solid numbers for those over 25, then don't fix what's broken.  CBS is in a great position -- let FOX, ABC & NBC fight it out with each other on the reality and other unintelligent programming between them, while the Tiffany Network continues to own the older audiences with solid shows.

The network's choice of show to replace MDP this Sunday would make me inclined to agree with you.

None whatsoever. I just ran out of modifiers and/or adjectives to put in the title, i.e. "Plus" or "Super". ;-) Password works just fine.
Ultra Password.  :-)

(Speaking of "Ultra", I wouldn't mind seeing somebody revive Ultra Quiz.  Considering that audiences seem more willing to see vicious things done to people on TV than they might have been 25 years ago....)

I'm in with those that think this could work as a half hour syndie show...however, I'd have liked to see a format where they combine the Plus/Super front game with the Big Money Lightning Round.

But that's just my opinion.
I also think MDP could work in daily syndication, but probably with the top prize reduced, or working up to it and not going for it the first time you win. This would mean "carry over" contestants. Also, they may have to get another host if it goes daily. Regis already had a daytime job, and he turned down the Millionaire gig that Merideth Vieira has.

Who's a good New York weatherman who can host?
Maybe Fred WestWostbrookBrock can push for Frank Field.

And doesn't look a day over 71.  Cute as a button.

/Oh, sorry, that should have been intended for Ms. Mary Macrame of Portsmouth, NH, who just celebrated her 95th birthday.
