Here's a piece by Noel Murray about Alex Trebek and game shows in general, complete with YouTube clips that have probably already been linked here--including Malcolm!  (No mention of the Malcolm Jackpot, however.)  I found it via Jaime Weinman's blog, which also mentions that Pitfall was rerun (at least in Canada) after Trebek hit it big with Jeopardy!

Didn't Channel 55 on Long Island bring back "Pitfall" about the same time it dragged out the reruns of "The $20,000 Pyramid"?

According to a few New York Metro TVGuides I have from the fall of 1985, "Pitfall" was no where to be seen on Ch. 55's schedule.  They started airing reruns of Cullen's "Pyramid" in Sept 1985 at 12:30 PM.  A show called "We're Cooking Now" preceded it.  The rest of the day primarily consisted of sitcom reruns, cartoons and movies.
