Answer: Launched in 2009, "Jeopardy Live!" failed to launch the mobile game-show interactive game genre because of this reason.

There are a total of 6 cell phones in this house, active and not, and not a single one is WinMo, Symbian or Palm. This is a common thing for cell phone game. You make the games Java enabled, which make up a majority of phones on the market sans the iPhone and you make a mint.

With that said, my Sony Ericsson K850i will be downloading this.

Wouldn't the Blackberry be out too?

Answer: This person chose to instantly label "Jeopardy! Live" a failure because he couldn't play it on his phone, not realizing a majority of phones are Java capable.

Question: Who is Hastin Zylstra?

Understand the frustration, but labeling it a failure is a bit overmuch, no?

That would be like me saying that GSN's Club AM was a failure just because I couldn't participate in their call-in due to lack of GSN at the time.  There are two solutions to this.  1) Get a java-based phone, and 2) Give the concept a chance.

Maybe they'll make a version for those, and want to see how it works and if people like this way first?

Honestly, though, is this a realistic solution?

I'm not defending Hastin in the least, but if people are gonna get all up in my area when I suggest that someone get a TiVo, then I gotta call shenanigans on this.

If I read the description correct, this is just another in the recent long line of Multiple Choice Jeopardy! games, which is Just. Not. How. the Game. is Played.:(

I only hope that this format never makes it to the TV show.

Thanks Chris, for a little support.

However, I did exactly what everyone suggested this weekend, I went out  and bought a cheap GSM Java-enabled phone. I've paid for the app and downloaded it.

I judge it after the episode on Monday.

I only jump to conclusions because it always seems with Sony when there's something taking the industry by storm; they fail to embrace it, because it slightly supports a competitor. I love Sony to death (own a PS3 and everything), but it always seems as if they do this - and the end result becomes lackluster at best.

Not everyone can afford a TiVo (especially in this economy), but most of us can afford a Java-based phone.

Small difference.

A halfway savvy shopper can find a Tivo for less than $100.

I see several Series 2's right now on Ebay with Buy It Nows under $100, as people try to dump off their old ones as they upgrade to HD. Frequently Tivo themselves has deals on refurbs (although I'm not seeing one at the monent). It's not _quite_ $100, but right now they have a deal for a Series 2 and three months of service (worth $39) for $149.
