They're a little slow.  I thought Chuck left Wheel in 1982.

He had to be.  It was actually 1981.  :)

It's a reference to the place where most of the original users of the board met on Usenet. It means that someone is reporting news that is so old that everyone knows about it by now.

Its use in the subject line here was out of context and I don't think it was a "Whoosh!" (over your head) moment. Had it been used in context you would have been able to use context clues to schuss out the meaning.

C'mon, guys, not everyone knows the origins of the game show newspeak. If someone would like to write a primer, I'm sure it would make a welcome addition to our reference library.

Chuck must have an aversion to wheels.  Didn't he also leave "Big Spin"???

:)
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

Whoever compiled that list is a true asset to the board. ;-)

/Some people might remove the "et" from that word...

I'm afraid you and Strikerz both get the whoosh in this case. LastResort knows all about that. He was joking about the title of this thread, saying Woolery should have gotten his new radio show back in 1982.

For someone my age or younger, the idea that Chuck Woolery hosted Wheel of Fortune seems absurd, and they'd have no idea what we're talking about?

Have we ever had someone show up, be on the receiving end of a GSF shorthand, and then get all uppity and irritated because he had not one clue why he was being mocked?
