Fair enough. I think it was a bit of my sense of fair play felt like it was being stepped on. Good to know it was just a false alarm. :)

Sorry, all.
C'mon, guys, not everyone knows the origins of the game show newspeak. If someone would like to write a primer, I'm sure it would make a welcome addition to our reference library.
I really wouldn't mind if we left much of it behind, myself, to wit the "WHOOSH!"es and "woolery left wheel" things. For someone my age or younger, the idea that Chuck Woolery hosted Wheel of Fortune seems absurd, and they'd have no idea what we're talking about?

Have we ever had someone show up, be on the receiving end of a GSF shorthand, and then get all uppity and irritated because he had not one clue why he was being mocked?

This was the best I could do.

I have been laughing hysterically for minutes. "What does WHOOSH! mean?" should be the Line Of The Decade. Almost a pity he was banned, but, really, it isn't.

I think I've done my job, then.

Personally, I got a bigger laugh out of what I considered to be the biggest ironic thing. Or maybe not. But still. (read the top one.)

They're a little slow.  I thought Chuck left Wheel in 1982.

Actually, Chuck's final WOF broadcast was December 25, 1981!

Sorry to bump this.

That seems terribly unlikely.
This has been another installment of Matt Ottinger's Masters of the Obvious.
Stay tuned for all the obsessive-compulsive fun of Words Have Meanings.

Are there candles and a cake for bumping a 10 year old thread?

The 10-year anniversary gift is aluminum. I have half a roll of Reynolds Wrap atop my fridge. After I wrap up tonight's leftovers, I'll donate that.
