MBC Archives Back Open Online
« on: January 29, 2009, 01:00:11 PM »
I received this email in my inbox this morning:

The Museum of Broadcast Communications is happy to announce that the ability to access thousands of hours of digitized content is available through our online catalog...As of January 27, 2009 registered users will once again be able to not only browse our entire holdings, but also watch and listen to the 7,000 assets that have been digitized over the last four years.

This would not have been possible without the generous support of Cleversafe, a based company that is revolutionizing the way the world thinks about storing data...

Great news, I was a big fan of the site. There is a lot of good game and non-game material for free viewing. To search the archives, simply go to http://archives.museum.tv/

I'm very happy about the return of the archives. Found some great shows there a while back, not just games.
"They're both Norman Jewison movies, Troy, but we did think of one Jew more famous than Tevye."

Now celebrating his 22nd season on GSF!

A non-circulating episode of "It Takes Two" is the best game show item I've seen for immediate on-line viewing!

It's nice, but this Mac/Flip4Mac user is having problems. I get the little bumper[?] video, but it isn't switching over to the show.

Yeah, this isn't the place to be bringing that up [although some of the other Mac users may want to be warned]. That said, I have seen some of the treasures in there in the past---and boy, there certainly are some treasures.

There are three things I've learned never to discuss with people: Religion, politics, and the proper wrapping of microphone cables.

I'm happily watching the museum's 1967 episode of Concentration on my Mac at the moment, but I cheated by viewing the frame source, grabbing the URL that began with "mms:", and opening that directly from my old copy of Windows Media Player.

Yes, it's ugly, but if you're on a Mac, well, at least it seems to work.

Well, the first show I checked out - Super Password - was a GSN recording complete with
onscreen rating and logo bug, squashed prize plugs, no end credits, and commercials!. Hardly in line with
their alleged mission to "collect, preserve, and present historic and contemporary radio and television content...".  I hope the other shows in their collection fared better.

Um, in what way is that not "contemporary?"

This Is Your Life-several episodes from 1953-87
[/quote]
I've seen this listed as a game or quiz show in many places over my lifespan.
How is this a game or quiz show?
Post #4444 this is. How much would that pay off on the Super Spin-Off board?

As I said above the list was just a representation.. Not an exhaustive list.  I  probably put it on because of Ralph Edwards' Involvement...

Oh, I understand that. I'm just wondering why it appears in many descriptions in some places (including, I believe, on the linked web site) as a game or quiz show.

Appearing on "This Is Your Life" is the reward for winning "The Game of Life."  :)

IIRC, didn't the subjects get showered with prizes?  A 16mm projector with a film of the show comes to mind, cause I wanted one of those when I was a kid.
Let's Make a Deal was the first show to air on Buzzr. 6/1/15 8PM.

And if you lose, you have to appear on it *twice.* :)
